The proposed WikiProject was not created. Unfortunately, not enough interest has been shown here, and this proposal has been inactive since february. As noted by Whatamidoing, the best alternative is coordination via user talk pages, perhaps with random other people you often see editing homelessness-related pages. Description

Project Description: The task of this project is to systematically unify WP coverage of homelessness and related pages (e.g. homelessness, articles by country, homelessness charities, activists, and popular culture topics, etc).

A second major task is to complete WP's collection of homelessness articles by country (for a partly complete list, see Template:Homelessness).

Reasons for new project

  • Exisiting topic does not neatly fit into any existing science or society category: homelessness is not a simple matter of housing and poverty, but includes a range of other social issues such as mental health, drug additiction (common features of adult male homelessness), but also include issues of domestic violence (common feature for adult homeless women) and sexual abuse (common to homeless children).
  • Coverage of homelessness-related pages on WP require more review to ensure a global representation of subtopics (e.g. coverage of street children in developing countries versus youth homelessness in developed countries).

User:I.am.a.qwerty, WikiProjects (the groups themselves) are usually not successful when a lone editor wants to create one. Have you considered alternatives such as a task force, joining an existing group with a related scope, working informally or the other recommendations at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide#Before you begin? Ideally, at least six experienced editors before you bother creating a set of project pages. You can start doing the important part now: Find an article you want to improve, and start working on it.
