Description

I believe a new project focussing exclusively on grappling is necessary, as it stands grappling coverage on wikipedia is lacking not in quantity but somewhat in quality. There are some very knowledgeable editors who contribute to grappling articles but they have no central direction or leadership. The closest thing to such direction is the Mixed martial arts Wikiproject. Their coverage however, while substantial, is sometimes limited by the scope of that project. Therefore, I propose a new WikiProject focused on all articles pertaining to Grappling; its technique, classification, competition, and personalities. — Jdcollins13 (talk) 20:38, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
I believe grappling deserved the highest degree of attention, it is a sport recognized and competed in worldwide. As a complete and acurate encyclopic reference WIkipedia must have a high degree of coverage on topics such as this. Therefore, in my opinion, grappling warrants a Wikiproject of its own, with a dedicated body of editors who are focussed on improving the presence of grappling on the English Wikipedia.
