- Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
The convention on biological diversity mentions that 1.2 billion people on earth depend on forests for their livelihood[1].
- Other projects on Environment or Ecology are very broad in scope. Forests are a world for themselves :-)
- When I first created this page, I didn't know about Wikipedia:WikiProject Forestry. Forestry focuses on forest management and conservation, the focus might seem too technical to users interested in other aspects of forests. If there is a wider community interested by forests, it would be nice to gather around a wiki project named "forest". The word "forest" alone is more likely to attract editors from biology, geography and social sciences.

Discussion
[edit]To group efforts around articles related to forests and give an overview in the portal:forest. See Portal:Forest/Categories, there are many categories related to forests that would gain from visibility, forests are a very interesting cross-cultural topic. Hope someone will be interested to contribute. --Rougieux (talk) 18:39, 4 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
