Description
[edit]The Florida Marlins Wikiproject is for editors willing to revamp and edit all articles related to the Florida Marlins Major League Baseball Team. This includes, but is not limited to, current and historical players, farm teams and players, 1997 and 2003 World Series, and coaching and managing staff. Discussion
[edit]When team-specific WPs were being discussed as subprojects to WP:BASEBALL, it was generally agreed that teams with a history this short should not have their own projects. We could do a task force easily, then expand to a WikiProject when it becomes necessary, but a 16-year history isn't nearly as all-encompassing and large as teams like the Yankees, the Mets, the Phillies, the Cubs, etc. KV5 (Talk • Phils) 21:16, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Wikipedia is all about openness and being bold, so if you really wanted to create it, I don't see why not (besides, it's not like you need anyone's permission). That said, it's extremely helpful to have at least two people making semi-consistent edits and upkeep for the WikiProject. I could see how the Marlins WikiProject could really lapse or languish if there wasn't more extended interest in the WikiProject. Even though the Marlins don't have an extended history, someone might as well get started on making articles like the 1997 World Series featured articles, since in my experience it takes at least a year of concentrated effort to get an article Featured anyway. At the rate things are going here on the wiki, I could forsee every MLB team having their own WikiProject within the next four to eight years anyway. Bottom line; if the Marlins are your passion, and you love to research and write about the team and its players, I say be bold and go for it. That said, if there aren't at least two or three people willing to make semi-frequent edits for the project, the project could languish for a long time. Hope you find my comments helpful. - Thanks for the help. I'll wait a few weeks before making the WikiProject to familiarise myself with all the wikimarkup and such. You've been a big help. Dippicus the Great The one and only... 21:40, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
