The proposed WikiProject was created at Wikipedia:WikiProject Channel Islands. Looks like this project was created in 2014. Proposal closed. Ajpolino (talk) 19:46, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Description
[edit]I was surprised to see that there was an (inactive) Jersey wikiproject, but not one for the whole of the Channel Islands, which I think there should be. Major pages are Channel Islands, and all the islands, the inhabited ones are listed here. This also shows the massive category tree which exists, with 25 immediate sub-categories. Related projects are the UK one, and possible the the French one.Matty.007 19:55, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

- Wikipedia:WikiProject Islands (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Why do you want to start a new group, instead of joining one of these existing groups?
- As there is no project specifically for the group of islands, which are massively important.

Discussion
[edit]- If it takes over from the dormant Jersey project and broadens its scope, I am all for it. I do not know enough of these islands to participate in such a project, though. Andrew S. Knight (talk) 23:57, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- If this goes ahead, we should merge the inactive Jersey project into this one as a taskforce. -- 70.24.244.161 (talk) 05:16, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- In response to 70.24.244.161 and Andrew S. Knight, the Jersey project could become a task force if there are any active editors. Thanks, Matty.007 19:48, 24 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- Excellent idea. I know I've written a few articles that could go in. Articles such as St. Peter (rugby ground), Guernsey RFC and Leader of Alderney (which currently is at DYK with 4 other Alderney articles) would be much improved if there was a centralized Channel Islands project.
