[edit]

Varun Harnal (talk) 10:44, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Request you to please let me know why my submission on wikipedia has been rejected. Please let me know the reason and how to correct it.[reply]

Varun Harnal The reason for the rejection is given on the top of the draft. As it was rejected, it will not be considered further, as no amount of editing can confer notability on a subject. 331dot (talk) 10:46, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also be advised that Wikipedia is not a place for people to tell the world about themselves. Please read the autobiography policy. 331dot (talk) 10:47, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

12:31:27, 21 August 2021 review of submission by PatSeeYou

[edit]

Hi I have multiple sources in this article, and multiple citations supporting. The citations include an academic book by a professor at Georgia State University, documentaries from HBO and Vice which are references in other published articles on Wikipedia; Billboard Magazine, The Daily Beast, sworn depositions, filed court cases, author websites.

I tightened it up a bit as well.

Would quoting sources help?

PatSeeYou (talk) 12:31, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@PatSeeYou: Using additional annotations in citations, particularly for books, videos, and paywalled sources, would help, as would more specific citations (which episode of "QAnon Into the Storm" and at how many minutes into the episode, for example). The draft contained numerous violations of our biographies of living persons policy. The obvious ones have been removed, but ensure none remain. Much of the draft, instead of being in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article, is written in a sensationalist tabloid style, with heavy innuendo and emphasis on vague "links" and "associations" that neither impart nor plainly summarize verifiable information. --Worldbruce (talk) 01:33, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

15:22:18, 21 August 2021 review of submission by Salamanderxander

[edit]

Hello all, I spoke with an editor here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:TheBirdsShedTears?markasread=225904452&markasreadwiki=enwiki#Request_on_13%3A21%3A18%2C_21_August_2021_for_assistance_on_AfC_submission_by_Salamanderxander and I'm following up here as that editor requested.

I am trying to submit an article for approval, but it is being denied due to poorly formed submissions on the same subject taking precedence. I imagine that I should find the earliest submission, and merge in my content? However, the complication is that those earlier submissions use an incorrect title capitalization. "Elongate" and "ElonGate" have been used in various sources, but "ELONGATE" is the correct style, as that is the officially registered company name. What is best practice here? I can merge my content into the earliest submission on the subject, but then the title would be incorrect. Thanks to any who can advise.

Salamanderxander (talk) 15:22, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Salamanderxander. Article titles for companies and products follow standard English capitalization, even if the company styles the name in full or partial uppercase. So if Wikipedia ever publishes an article about it, it would be titled Elongate (cryptocurrency). In light of Wikipedia's general sanctions on cryptocurrency-related articles, I suspect that there's little chance that any draft about it will be accepted for publication, but you can try merging the draft you've been working on into the older draft and see what happens. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:01, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

18:16:27, 21 August 2021 review of submission by Whisperjanes

[edit]

I left a message here last month, but it wasn't answered, so I apologize if I'm repeating myself.

I'm requesting a re-review of Draft:I Demand Payment here, since the draft has been rejected and I can't submit it on the draft's page. There are now four reviews of the film and at least one other piece of independent, substantial coverage cited in the article. There is also a plot summary in this book. When it was rejected, there were only two reviews and less citations, but I think this now passes WP:GNG notability. Please let me know if I'm missing something or I'm not asking this at the right place. - Whisperjanes (talk) 18:16, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Whisperjanes. Kudos for improving the draft. Afc is an optional process unless editing under unusual sanctions (as original author FloridaArmy may be). As long as that isn't the case for you, and you don't have a conflict of interest, you are welcome to remove the various Afc templates and move the draft to mainspace yourself. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:26, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 19:00:12, 21 August 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Henri Grace

[edit]

Hello, I'm trying to make sure that everything is OK for my draft of English version about record producer Phil Greiss (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Greiss) I was told by reviewer "Curbon7" : "literrally every reference in this article was valid" wich confused not only myself, but some of the helpers on the IRC help channel. I have tried to make the article leaner, wich is a bit difficult since the person in question has been active for the last 25 years. The french article was approved fairly quickly with much more references. For the English version, I tried to stick to bare essential, and focus on the more international work Greiss has been doing since 2017. Any help or pointers greatly appreciated

Thank you

Henri Grace (talk) 19:00, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Henri Grace. Curbon7's comment was, "Literally every one of the 42 cited sources are not reliable sources." That is an exaggeration, because Ascap, Billboard, RIAA, and Grammys.com are generally reliable. A large number of the cited sources are not reliable, however, such discogs, musiccanada, and the French Wikipedia. AllMusic is reliable for reviews and album credits, but may not be reliable for biographical information or genres, and may not help demonstrate notability. Your plan to make the draft leaner sounds like a good one. Articles need not be complete, but they must cite only reliable sources. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:49, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and thank you for your reply. I have revised the article Phil Greiss according to your comments on references, do let me know if you get a chance -

Thank you and thank you again for your insight. Henri Grace (talk) 11:45, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

21:24:37, 21 August 2021 review of submission by Lashirley21

[edit]

Hi there, I am wondering why my article Ed Schipul was declined? Looking to see how can I make this better so it can be published. Ed Schipul is a very important programmer in the tech world and has made huge impact.

Lashirley21 (talk) 21:24, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lashirley21: The draft was speedily deleted as a copyright violation from his company's own web site. In general, we have no interest in what the subject of an article has to say about itself--all articles, especially those about living persons need to consist of verifiable information referenced to reliable sources which are independent of the subject. Further, copying and pasting copyrighted material (or close paraphrases thereof) is unacceptable under any circumstances. It doesn't matter how "important" he is--if he's made the "huge impact" that you claim, then it should be easy to find things written about him in major technical publications. (For the record, I took a look and didn't find a lot to go on.) Please read WP:NBIO and take a good hard look at whether proper sourcing can be found to meet the guidelines there. Without this, there isn't any kind of basis for an encyclopedia article about him. --Finngall talk 21:51, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
