13:16:33, 18 October 2017 review of submission by Mikepotter

[edit]

Could you please give me some more guidance as to why my page was rejected? The feedback says that it sounds more like an advertisement rather than an encyclopedia page. Could you please give me some advice on how I can improve it?

Mikepotter (talk) 13:16, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Note The first link, Draft:Michael Potter is correct. The other one; Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Michael Potter redirects to a mainspace article about a different Michael Potter. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 13:34, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's regarding the first link. I don't know where the second link has come from. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikepotter (talkcontribs) 13:50, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Dodger67:, No problem, it is because the name already exists, but if this draft is accepted then it will be renamed or DAB page created as appropriate. Ammarpad (talk) 13:55, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It seems, it is not the user who is inserting it Ammarpad (talk) 13:57, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mikepotter Don't worry about it. The links are automagically generated by a script, the "error" that happened here is because another draft page with the same title exists. My note is merely to inform other helpers about the issue. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 14:20, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Mikepotter: So the "article is written like an advertisement" is the feedback from the reviewer. Your username makes people think that you may well be Mike Potter, which would be a conflict of interest on Wikipedia. It would need sufficient editing; as the article is written not from a non-biased point of view, which is also against C&D. I would also like to let you know that youtube can never be taken as a reliable source - even clearly showing something; it would suggest original research, which isn't what Wikipedia is for. Judah Rogan (talk) 16:26, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why was my page closed?

@Judah Rogan: Draft:MOS was declined for the reasons stated in the big pink box on the draft, in short because it cites no independent, reliable sources. I've left a basket of links on your talk page that may help you understand what is expected for an encyclopedia article. --Worldbruce (talk) 22:49, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
