How to add copyright content on Wikipedia if I have copyright license from the authority? Syed Muhammad Aftab (talk) 06:54, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Syed Muhammad Aftab (talk) 06:54, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

User:Aftab222000 - The best advice about copyright content in most cases is don't try to add it anyway. Most copyrighted content is non-neutral. However, please be specific. What do you want to add the copyrighted content to? Your most recent submission appeared to be your resume, and that is not appropriate for Wikipedia. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:04, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Robert McClenon but I asked about writing an article about NGO from material with his website and I have permission to write it. Syed Muhammad Aftab (talk) 08:41, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Even if you have permission from the NGO to use the copyrighted material for Wikipedia, it is likely to be considered non-neutral. It is almost always better not even to try to use copyrighted material for Wikipedia.Robert McClenon (talk) 17:25, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have been watching the progress of my article in the Pending Review page. Until recently, the image in the info box was fine. I just looked again and see that the image is gone but a small icon has replaced it. Clicking on the icon reveals the image but when I go back to the article the image is not displayed. Can you tell me why this happened, and what I can do to fix it? The Draft:Albert E. Jarrell article is only 10th from the top and I would hate to have it rejected because of this image issue. Thanks HankitoJ (talk) 15:30, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@HankitoJ: Hello, Hankito. Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. Our apologies for the delay in response. I don't know what was causing the problem you are reporting, but I did see that you were using non-standard coding for that image. I changed your coding to the standard format (for details on this, see Template:Infobox person). I also added a caption to the photo. If the problem persists, or if you have any further questions, please let us know. NewYorkActuary (talk) 17:31, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@NewYorkActuary: Thank you for your help with this image issue. After reading your response I viewed the article and find that on my Windows 10 computer I still do not see the image, but on my Windows 7 computer I do (this is the first time I have looked at the article with this computer). Since the image used to display on the Win 10 computer (with the non-standard formatting), there must be something about the image formatting that the Win 10 computer just does not like now. Your caption shows up fine. The reason for the non-standard formatting is that the original article displayed the image full screen and so I added the thumbnail instruction. Then, the image was off center so I added the instruction to center it. Unless there is something about the image in Wikimedia that is incorrect, I don't know if anything further can be done. Thanks again. HankitoJ (talk) 00:19, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@HankitoJ: Congratulations on having your article accepted for publication. To follow up on the technical question -- I too am using Windows 10 and I had no problem viewing the image, either before or after standardizing the coding. You might want to ask about your situation at WP:VPT, where they specialize in technical questions. And on a different note -- adding the "@" sign in front of a user's name doesn't create an automatic notification. For that, you'll need to use a notification template. My template of choice is {{replyto}}, but there are others. Again, congratulations on the article. I hope you'll stick around to do some more editing here. @NewYorkActuary: Thank you for your help. Strangely, after two weeks of not having an image it is now back. There is a lot to learn about Wikipedia, and I'm sure that this "reply to" is wrong. Thanks for your support and involvement in Wikipedia. HankitoJ (talk) 02:18, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
