Hello, I am new at Wikipedia. I would be grateful if you could explain the reasons for declining my article.

My submission can be found here:

A minor note: I've changed the title and formatting of your question. I hope you don't mind.
The reasons for your article being declined can be found at the top of the article. In short, you should change the way you cite sources. Wikipedia allows for different ways of citing, but one way that should be avoided is simply providing a URL, which can lead to linkrot. Good citations include information such as the title, author, date, body of work (such as a website, newspaper, or magazine), and so on. The link that the reviewer provided is to the introduction to referencing, a good tutorial for learning how to cite sources. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 04:00, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Do we really reject submissions for references using bare URLs? Arthur goes shopping (talk) 09:18, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, bare URL references should simply be fixed (use the Reflinks tool), it's not a legitimate decline reason. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:32, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I'm really curious why my article submission was declined.Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Andrea Filip

I would appreciate some tips/guidance, so I can improve my submission and get it published.

Thank you very much! :)

Kind regards,

Ovi Tamas ovidiu (talk) 07:08, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ovi. That submission was declined for the reasons given in and under the pink box on the submission page itself. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 09:12, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

This was rejected yet again today. I've cited all known sources and articles. I am not sure what else is missing with the citations/references. Can someone please help me out here?

This may not help you much, but apart from anything else, the wording is still way too promotional. Just picking out one section at random, we have "leading artistes", a "prestigious" orchestra, and a "foremost exponent" - none of these being justified as a direct quotation from an independent reliable source. Even if the content is trimmed to the point where it can be properly sourced, this promotional wording would need to be completely removed throughout. Hi, following a first review, I made modifications to the pages according to the reviewer's requests. I resubmitted the page a long time ago and would like to know whether the page would soon be ready for creation.

Best,

An earlier version has been revved by DragonflySixtyseven. but this is not the revised article for review. Should I just ignore. This is the revised Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Jeff SchneiderJeff Schneider 15:41, 4 March 2014 (UTC)

The page you link to is currently awaiting review. Is there another page that you have questions about? If so, please could you give us a link to it?
You should probably read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 16:45, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My article was not accepted due to the subject (composer/performer) being considered insufficiently notable. However, I believe the criteria for notability have been met:

1) The composer's works and recordings have been reviewed by numerous independent sources around Australia including major newspapers (Canberra Times), Australia's premiere music magazine (Limelight Magazine) and major online music media (Resonance magazine, AU Review and Sounds like Sydney).

2) The composer is represented by the Australian Music Centre - representation is reserved only for signficant Australian composers and can only be attained via a rigorous peer-review process.

3) The composer's work is featured on the websites of internationally reknown ensembles, orchestras and performers who have performed his work.

4) The composer has been a finalist for a major national composition prize.

5) The composer is the subject of scholarly work discussing his innovations and new approaches to Latin-American influenced classical music.

6) The composer is on staff at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the largest tertiary music education institution in the country.

These seem to fulfil the criteria for notability several times over - if the criteria have still not been met, can you please clarify what additional information would be required to demonstrate notability?

Hi there - I created my first page for Diabetes.co.uk but it was declined. Can anyone tell me why?

https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Jhrastafari/Diabetes.co.uk

Comment was: References that are independent of the subject do not discuss the subject in detail, or not at all. 78.26

Can someone explain which references weren't relevant and why?

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/South Dakota Wing Civil Air Patrol

I tried to submit this article but must have done it incorrectly as I received a no message. How should I go about it?

Article content
SOUTH DAKOTA WING CIVIL AIR PATROL

South Dakota Wing (abbreviated as SDWG) is the highest echelon of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) in the state of South Dakota. The wing headquarters is at the Rapid City Regional Airport in Rapid City, SD. SDWG reports to CAP’s North Central Region, which in turn reports to CAP National Headquarters at Maxwell AFB, Alabama.

The wing consists of squadrons, the basic unit of CAP. At present SDWG consists of three administrative squadrons and six “composite” squadrons that are composed of cadets (youth ages 12-18) and senior members (age 18 and up). SDWG is currently commanded by Colonel John Seten.

Structure

[edit]

Below wing level are squadrons. SDWG has three administrative squadrons and six operational squadrons. The operational squadrons are at the local level of the CAP organization. They meet weekly to conduct CAP's three core missions and are on-call 24/7 to respond to requests for emergency assistance. In South Dakota Wing all six of the operational squadrons are “composite” squadrons in that they offer programs for both cadets and senior members.

Unit Nr. Name Location Meets On
SD000 Wing Holding Squadron N/A N/A
SD001 Headquarters Squadron N/A N/A
SD999 Wing Legislative Squadron Pierre N/A
SD031 Rushmore Composite Squadron Rapid City Mondays
SD038 Pierre Composite Squadron Pierre Tuesdays
SD050 Sioux Falls Composite Squadron Sioux Falls Thursdays
SD058 Big Sioux Composite Squadron Brookings Thursdays
SD063 Lookout Mountain Composite Squadron Spearfish Thursdays
SD068 Crazy Horse Composite Squadron Custer Thursdays

Missions

[edit]

South Dakota Wing performs Civil Air Patrol's three congressionally mandated missions: Emergency Services, Aerospace Education and Cadet Programs.[1]

  • Emergency Services - SDWG supports Civil Air Patrol's Emergency Services missions by operating six CAP aircraft and 17 multi-purpose vehicles. SDWG takes part in aerial and ground-based search and rescue, disaster relief operations, humanitarian assistance, support to the South Dakota Air National Guard through low-level route surveys and counter-aerial intruder training, and aerial survey assistance to the state Department of Game Fish and Parks and South Dakota State University in their wildlife management programs.[2]
  • Aerospace Education - The Aerospace Education program ensures all SDWG members have an appreciation for and knowledge of aerospace issues. It provides general aerospace knowledge and focuses on advances in aviation, aerospace technology and space exploration. SDWG’s support for the AE mission also includes participation in local, state and national aviation events.[3]
  • Cadet Programs - While there are many youth oriented programs in America today, CAP's cadet program is unique in that it uses aviation as a cornerstone. SDWG offers the Cadet Program in all six of its squadrons across the state. The Cadet Program allows young people to progress at their own pace through a program including aerospace education, leadership training, physical fitness and character development. There is also an orientation flight program for the cadets.[4]

Cadet Encampment

[edit]

Each year South Dakota Wing and North Dakota Wing jointly hold an encampment, usually a week to ten days in length. These encampments allow cadets to experience a semi-military lifestyle with instruction in discipline, teamwork and leadership. Other activities involve instruction in drill and ceremonies, customs and courtesies, basic CAP knowledge and military traditions. The Joint Dakotas encampment alternates between Camp Grafton near Devils Lake or Grand Forks AFB, both in North Dakota and Camp Rapid or Ellsworth AFB, both in South Dakota.

National Cadet Special Activities

[edit]

National Cadet Special Activities are Cadet Programs conducted by Civil Air Patrol. NCSAs are designed to give cadets direct hands on experience with various aspects of the Civil Air Patrol program and provide meaningful insight into several aviation-related careers. There are about 30 different special activities that a cadet may attend. Each activity is approximately a week long, and all but two are offered during the summer. The variety of NCSAs offered by CAP gives cadets a diverse experience. Activities focus on career exploration, leadership development, search and rescue skills, aeronautical training, Air Force familiarization, government, and a variety of other topics.[5]

Scholarships

[edit]

Civil Air Patrol members are also eligible for a wide variety of scholarships; academic scholarships, flight scholarships and school-specific scholarships.[6]

Hi, Back again seeking some advice. My latest article has been declined for notability and referencing. I took on board your excellent sugestions from an earlier submission decline for another article. I used a template provided by the National Library of Australia, used every available primary and secondary reference from the local library (newspaper articles from multiple sources, the historic newspaper itself and published books), linked to the digitised newspaper (now available online), referenced the national project that undertook the digitisation and included as much detail in the citations as I could. Really unsure what I can do further. Any advice to improve this article would be fantastic. Thanks! Coastal.culture.vulture (talk) 21:13, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

South Dakota Wing Civil Air Patrol I'm such a newb that I don't even know where to go to read why my article was not accepted. Please tell me how to find the reviewer's comments?SDWG-PAO (talk) 21:18, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can access your article from the message left on your talk page at User talk:SDWG-PAO. There will be a link to the article submission, and the comments are at the top of the article.

my article was declined, this is my first time posting on wikipedia and I am having a hard time citing my work properly. Thanks! Kelly — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kellymc816 (talkcontribs) 21:19, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you are referring to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/List of celebrities who lost a guardian at a young age. (I've updated the section title.) You can see the introduction to referencing for help on how to cite sources. But 78.26 also states in his decline reason that this list may not be fit for an encyclopedia, and that it would be difficult to determine who would go in this list. I unfortunately have to agree with these points. Anon126 (talk - contribs) 21:59, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The intersection of celebrity and young orphanhood seems to me to be arbitrary and even random. There doesn't appear to be any logical connection between the two concepts. The Notability rule requires that you show, by citation, that multiple independent sources have discussed the topic in depth. Sorry but you'll have to find a more suitable topic for your first article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 07:01, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Sarah Anne Johnson

I was wondering why this page did not get excepted. Any information would help.

Thanks!!

(BulgerGallery (talk) 22:14, 4 March 2014 (UTC))[reply]

@BulgerGallery: You mean User:BulgerGallery/sandbox/Sarah_Anne_Johnson? It was declined because the sourcing was inadequate - see the message at the top of the article. I think the reviewer possibly had doubts about whther Johnson was notable enough for a Wikipedia write up. there's little proof of significant coverage in reliable independent sources.
Judging by your user name, I would worry that you are motivated purely to advertise your gallery and your 'product'. You seem to have a conflict of interest that would raise people's suspicions. At the moment the article reads like an artist's CV, particularly with the long list of 'selected' exhibitions. We don't need these long lists, we need to know why she is important and what aspects of her/her work have received significant critical attention.Sionk (talk) 22:49, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
