Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Cisco ASA - plus removal of unnecessary redirection

[edit]

Dear AfC Reviewer: Once the page Cisco ASA is approved for creation, the link of Cisco ASA redirecting to Cisco PIX#Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) must be removed as it will now have its own page. KlarkKent (talk) 03:41, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Noted. The reviewer will most likely find the existing redirect and request a technical move (which requires deleting the existing redirect). Anon126 (talk - contribs) 06:12, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, I have submitted an article for review Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/User:16.11.Rguru/sandbox. However can I add a note to the article that- the author of the article is a senior civil judge of Orissa from the Republic of India 16.11.Rguru (talk) 07:09, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 16.11.Rguru- Welcome to the Articles for Creation Help desk. Yes, you can add a note to the article in the meanwhile. You are encouraged to improve your submission until some person review your submission page. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 11:26, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I submitted an article on Anna Hashimoto, a young virtuosic Clarinetist and it was turned down for non-notability. I am independent of the subject and really think she is notable enough, according to WP:MUS notability guidelines, as I understand it, she would be notable under points 6, 9 and 12. My reasoning is thus:

  • Point 6, she has performed several concerto's with some of the most prominent Orchestra's in the world, she has also performed as principal Clarinet with some of the most prominent Orchestra's in the world.
  • Point 9, she has won two of the most major Clarinet competitions in existence.
  • Point 12, cited in the article a BBC Radio 3 interview and performance, also been broadcast on NHK TV and FM, FM Tokyo, ABC Radio and BBC Radio 3 on other occasions as well as featuring on NHK-FM's 'Best of Classic' and NHK TV's 'Classic Club' (in a joint recital).

The article is located at: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Anna_Hashimoto

I would appreciate any assistance anyone could provide. Have tried to provide thorough and multiple reputable sources (once I started to understand what one of those was) but as I said, any assistance or help someone could provide would be gratefully received.

Thankyou.

Hello Azhartokyo- Welcome to the Articles for Creation Help desk. Your submission is declined for not being sourced properly. Please see, referencing for beginners and make changes accordingly. Apart from properly sourcing, you are required to establish notability of the subject. See, Wikipedia notability guideline. Make changes accordingly, it'd be suitable for inclusion thereafter. Thanks Anupmehra for a quicker Response, This Article is about A Pakistani Poet Stub And is Supported by Two Reliable Sources,i.e, The Prominent English Newspaper The News Story/Article About The Poet & His Recently Published Book in its Publication Dated 9 th Feb, 2013(web link Given Therein), whereas, the Second Notability Source Is Government Of Pakistan's Writers' Directory Profile On Its Pakistan Academy Of Letters' website Showing The Writer/Poet's Details Alongwith Publication( web link Given In Referencing); In The Presence Of The Above Cited Two Reliable/Verifiable Sources I Am Completely At A a Loss To Understand The Reasons Of Your Rejection. I have no idea of how to establish notability for a science-fiction novel from the 1950's, when science fiction was a literary ghetto. You should delete this submission and not have anyone waste any more time on it.Kanawishi (talk) 16:53, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kanawishi, don't be discouraged. It is difficult because of its age and genre and the lack of easily accessible independent sources and reviews, but they do exist. The author (Robert S. Richardson) is notable. The book was published not only in English (3 printings), but also in Dutch [1] and German [2], and sources about it exist at The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction here, and in various other publications here, here. here, probably a fair amount here (but only available as a snippet view on Google books, so you'd need to find it in a library). There's also this review in Kirkus Reviews. This page on the Internet Speculative Fiction Database gives list of all the published reviews of the book. Since this draft is still in your user space. Simply remove the decline notice for now. Take your time and keep working on it. Give me a shout on my talk page when you think it might be ready, and I'll have a look at it. Voceditenore (talk) 11:00, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Notability is established by referencing information about the topic to significant coverage in independent reliable sources. You may wish to take a look at the References section for another science-fiction novel from the 1950's, The Stars My Destination, to see how it was done in that instance. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:42, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sir/Madam, My Properly Referenced Article About A Pakistani Writer/Poet Stub was declined after a review awaiting more than 3 Weeks. I would request to Please grant a second Review of The Same At Earliest Thereby Accounting For Following 3 rd Party Notable/Reliable References as Per Wikipedia's guidelines:-

This Article is about A Pakistani Poet Stub And is Supported by Two Reliable Sources,i.e, The Prominent English Newspaper The News Story/Article About The Poet & His Recently Published Book in its Publication Dated 9 th Feb, 2013(web link Given Therein), whereas, the Second Notability Source Is Government Of Pakistan's Writers' Directory Profile On Its Pakistan Academy Of Letters' website Showing The Writer/Poet's Details Alongwith Publication( web link Given In Referencing); In The Presence Of The Above Cited Two Reliable/Verifiable Sources I Am Completely At A a Loss To Understand The Reasons Of Your Rejection. Thanks & Regatds.Web links given As Top 2 Above-Cited References.Thanking you in Anticipation.Azhartokyo (talk) 17:35, 23 March 2014 (UTC).[reply]

Hello, Azhartokyo. I have cleaned up and formatted your draft, but I'm afraid there simply isn't enough to demonstrate notability. There is one article about his first and only poetry collection in the Karachi edition of The News International and his self-written profile in the PAL Writers' Directory. This is not enough to pass the inclusion criteria for Wikipedia. You need multiple reviews of his work, evidence of awards for it, and multiple independent, in-depth coverage of Azhar Naazir himself. Please read our guidelines at Wikipedia:Notability (people). You are also going to have a problem because Azhar Naazir was inappropriately created as an article so many times that it will require an administrator to move it into article space. There were also multiple attempts to create the article under the inappropriate title Azhar Naazir (Poet) ( اظہر ناظر )(اردو شا عر). Are you using two accounts? There appear to be two editors with similar names submitting this draft, see Azhar01 (talk · contribs). If you are the same person, please read this page for guidance. These user names are also very similar to the name of the article's subject. If you are the article's subject or have a personal or business affiliation to him, please read WP:Autobiography. Voceditenore (talk) 09:54, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Voceditenore! First of All Please Accept my Gratitude for cleaning up/formatting my Article About Azhar Naazir, I feel fortunate enough that my query here caught your Attention. Thanks A Lot Again. Regarding your further queries & Record Of Multiple Submissions of subject Article InAppropriately, the Explanations follow:- A) The Main Reason for Multiple Submisdions In InAppropriate format may be Attributed to not understanding the Proper Editing formats, for which I tender my Apologies here and am really thankful for your timely help.I should have come on this Platform earlier to have a better understanding of where I Am wrong. B) I use only Azhartokyo login id. C) As Regards your 'The News' Intl story of Writer/Poet's Publication & Detailed Introductory Article, for treating it as reliable source I am grateful; D) Regarding your Observation about PAL Profile Information, I do hereby clarify that Pakistan Academy Of Letters' Website is Officially being maintained by Government Of Pakistan and The Writers' Introductory Profiles are updated Against their Publications by Academy Itself, So, these details on Academy's Website are Also Not Self Written By Writer/Poet , as the Site is being Administered by Academy Of Letters, Pakistan by Itself and updated Periodically by them, So, the second source may also be treated as Reliable & Independent. E) Lastly, as you pointed to the similarity of Article's subject with id names, it merely co-incides as the id is not Azhar Naazir itself, And Azhar Naazir is an independent Subject. Moreover, as you pointed out due to Multiple In Accurate Submissions the Article needs to be Approved/ moved to Article Space By An Administrator, I would like yo know how to Approach An Administrator And Re Submit The Same. I Shall Be Eagerly waiting for your Response. Thanks Again.Azhartokyo (talk) 14:29, 24 March 2014 (UTC).[reply]

Azhartokyo , if the article is approved here, the reviewer will contact an administrator about moving it. However, there simply is not enough evidence from these two sources to demonstrate that it meets the criteria for inclusion. No reviewer will approve it in its current state. Once again, please read my original comments carefully and the guidelines that I have linked there. If this draft were moved into article space in its current state, it would be immediately taken to a deletion discussion where it would almost certainly deleted. You need to find multiple in-depth coverage of this person and his work before it can be created as an article. I wish I had better news for you. Voceditenore (talk) 19:17, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks A lot Voceditenore! I am so grateful to you Again for helping with My Article, Sure, I ll try to provide some more links/sources, but only wished it to be Approved as a Short Stub To Start With in the Presence of 2 Reliable /Verifiable Sources Initially, To Be Expanded later when More Links Are Available.Any How It looks Much Better After Your Kind Help & I do hope That Wikipedia Considers It for Inclusion As A Short Stub To Start With In Its a Present Shape. I Shall take the liberty to revert to you in case I Add more links for your kind opinion Again! With Lots Of Prayers for You!Stay Blessed.Azhartokyo (talk) 21:10, 24 March 2014 (UTC). Hello Voceditenore I V Added Some More References And will be much obliged if you could please have a look at the Article & help with correct format and give your valuable Advice! Stay Blessed, Regards.Azhartokyo (talk) 18:34, 27 March 2014 (UTC).[reply]

Hello Azhartokyo. I've had a look at the links you've now listed under the heading "External references". I'm afraid none of them are of any use to the article or to establishing the subject as meeting our criteria for inclusion. Per their current numbering:
[1] is simply a link to a commercial website selling his poetry book
[2] and [3] are links to a search engine which simply contains links to posts in Mr. Naazir's blog
[4] is a link to posts by Mr. Naazir on a website with user-generated content
[5] is a link to a site that collects Twitter postings, and lists one from Mr. Naazir
[6] is a link to the National Bank of Pakistan's home page which does not mention him at all. I searched the whole site for mention of him, but found nothing.
[7] is simply a link to the Google image search results for: azhar naazir urdu poetry pakistan. We can't use raw search results as a reference, and in this case, every single one of the images found there is from Mr. Naazir's blog or Facebook page.
Wikipedia:Notability (people) and Wikipedia:Reliable sources will put all this into context for you and explain in more detail why they cannot be used in the article. I encourage you to read those pages carefully. Stub articles on Wikipedia need to meet the same criteria for inclusion as full length articles. We cannot create a stub and then wait for the day when the subject receives significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Those sources are required before an article is created. Unfortunately, I think it is simply too soon to attempt an article on this subject. There's no reason to abandon your draft for now. It's possible that in the coming year Mr. Nazir's book will win a significant award or there will be more published about him and and his work in independent sources and then you can re-submit it, but I also think you have to be realistic about the chance of that. Best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 10:18, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Voceditenore I am again so grateful for the kindness you extended to me & the precision with which you examined my Article. I am getting your point and Agree that One More Book of Author is in Print & first Book is likely to get recognition in the coming days. I shall wait for more Reliable links when Available & will be again looking for your kind opinion & help. But As Per my Observation There Are Articles Present in The Pakistani Poets Category with lesser References in the Past. My Article does Already Have Two Reliable links excluding External Ones if Not Good Enough As Per Your Analysis. But Might Be Wikipedia Now More Strict With The New Articles' Inclusion. Anyways, I still Agree With Your Very Reasonable analysis & will keep the Draft Till It Gets More Reliable links in the Near Future. With Lots Of Prayers Again for U! Stay Blessed!Regards .Azhartokyo (talk) 11:04, 28 March 2014 (UTC). Hi!Voceditenore Hope You Are Fine, I have just Added Another Reliable Source/Reference to the Article which is from leading Urdu Paper Of Pakistan The Daily Jang which contains Mine & My Book's Introduction In Their Book Shelf Section, but couldn't insert it in Top References, So, have just added at the Top of external References & shall be obliged if you could please help it placing correctly in the Article, but I was first not sure that Leading Urdu Paper's links are good with Wikipedia Or Otherwise, here's the Weblink Pl. http://e.jang.com.pk/02-24-2014/pindi/page9.asp Pl have A Look when Convenient, I Shall be waiting for your kind guidance.Stay Blessed, Regards.Azhartokyo (talk) 21:39, 28 March 2014 (UTC).[reply]

Proposed article on the renouveau catholique

[edit]

Concerning the proposed article on the renouveau catholique, you might like to tkae look at the German version of Wikipedia which has an article on this subject which will provide an idea of what would appear in English. There really would not be much point in providing a full scale article to have it rejected by editors who are not expert in the field and not au fait with a very significant research subject currently under way in the German universities, especially in the Heidelberg. We refer you to the work of Kullmann and Lucksheiter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.251.194.64 (talk) 23:58, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The German Wikipedia article is at de:Renouveau catholique. Have you started the draft here on English Wikipedia? If so, can you provide a link to it?. Or do you just want some advice on whether you should? It is definitely a notable topic and several Wikipedia articles already have a red link for it [3]. If you register an account, you don't have to use the Articles for Creation process. You can simply create the article directly. Whichever path you choose, I suggest you provide a good range of references and cite the article meticulously. I suggest reading Wikipedia:Your first article for further guidance. Voceditenore (talk) 09:18, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
and, 92.251.194.64, take a look at Wikipedia:Translation/German/Translation advice, which is valuable even for those expert in both languages. Looking at the eWP article, I would make an effort to use as alternatively or additionally, sources in English--of which there are many. I'd also tailor the examples to people to enWP has articles on, link to appropriate enWP articles, and, because just as you say our readers characteristically have considerably weaker academic background in such areas, provide more context. (Even for the deWP, I find it strange that the lede paragraph doesn't immediate give the chronological period). DGG ( talk ) 01:44, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
