Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chiffon Ma-ry - author needs help that I can't give

[edit]

I regret that I'm not the right AFC reviewer to help her. If this person meets Wikipedia's notability requirements (and I'm not saying if she does or not), she should have an article and needs a kind voice to help her find sources and create a suitable submission. If she doesn't, she needs a kind voice to tell her "no."

I tried to help her but my "style" doesn't work well for everyone, so I'm hoping someone who has a "kinder voice" than me can help her out. Please see the submission's edit history and the edit history of User talk:Chiffonmary for info. Thanks. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 00:09, 28 May 2013 (UTC) Updated. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 19:02, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe its me, but if the person doesn't want to listen to you, its probably not worth bothering with. Looks like her only claim maybe is a youtube video getting 1.1 million views. Still, completely lacking in sources. LionMans Account (talk) 02:22, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

<Redacted a copy-paste of the entire draft> — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr. Syed Shahzad Ali Najmi (talkcontribs) 08:27, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not copy the whole draft here, the link in the section heading is sufficient for anyone to find it. Do you have a question about it for us? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 14:03, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Vivek Lall

[edit]

I have submitted an article http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Dr._Vivek_Lall. However, this time there is no acknowledgement/status box that used to appear when I submitted the article earlier. Also, am trying to understand the reason why the reviewers have not found the subject notable. I have added a number of references which demonstrate the importance and influence of the subject. Would request your comments. Thanks Ruchisaklani (talk) 10:57, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You can submit the draft for a new review by either adding {{subst:submit}} to the very top, or by following the instructions in the lower "submission declined" message box: "When you are ready to resubmit, click here."
However, I still don't think the original problems are sufficiently addressed. The Observer Research Foundation is not an independent source on its own fellows, and the CEO Clubs don't look particularly reliable to me. The first three sources are better, but they don't say all they're cited for - for example, the Economic Times doesn't call the deals Lall was involved in "the largest ever US-India defense deals". Many of the other sources mention him only in passing, especially the Tribune articles, and for all I can tell, we don't actually use their content. Huon (talk) 21:12, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why are Ray Guarendi's references adequate, but Gregory Popcak's aren't?

[edit]

Ray Guarendi and Gregory Popcak are both Catholic psychologists and talk show hosts and friendly rivals. They have somewhat opposing viewpoints and provide a nice balance to one another on Ave Maria Catholic talk radio. However, only Ray Guarendi is listed in Wikipedia. I have set up a page for Gregory Popcak, but it keeps getting rejected and I would like to know why. I was told that Popcak didn't have enough reliable sources, however, I have listed almost the exact same sources that are listed on the Ray Guarendi page - they both list their Catholic Answers biography page and their Library of Congress listings. Ray has one extra citation that Gregory doesn't have, however, I have listed many more for Gregory and was told that at least one of them was a reliable and adequate citation. That means that they both have the same number of reliable citations, but Gregory is being excluded and Ray is accepted. I am frustrated because they are definitely both equally notable and equally famous and appear on the exact same television and radio stations. Is there something else I am missing here? Or perhaps Ray was incorrectly accepted into Wikipedia with insufficient citations and should be removed?

The article on Guarendi was created in 2007, when standards for article submissions were lower.
If you feel it should be removed, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion would be the place to nominate it. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 13:42, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In fact the Ray Guarendi article was created before AfC even existed. Remember that most articles were, and continue to be, created without the AfC review process. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 14:14, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm aware that AfC has not always existed. That is one of the ways in which standards for article submissions were lower in 2007. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 13:24, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You and I know it, but I'd bet that Ecwickoren and most of the other folks submitting drafts here don't know it. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 13:33, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What does Cameltoe mean?

[edit]

I've been hearing the word tossed around a lot and I just want to know what it means. I know it's something nasty or something but, I don't want to ask one of my friends and be emberassed. Could someone please tell me? 24.231.197.174 (talk) 21:15, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Please consider asking this question at the Wikipedia:Reference desk. They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what the Help Desk is for). Just follow the link, select the relevant section, and ask away. You could always try searching Wikipedia for an article related to the topic you want to know more about. I hope this helps.
