I resubmitted my articles for creation David Riordan article a couple of weeks ago. It says it's under review. I wanted to make sure it still was. Swiftmanmatt (talk) 02:13, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The draft is awaiting review, but currently there's a massive backlog of unreviewed submissions, and it may take a few more days until yours gets reviewed. Please be patient. In the meantime you might want to turn the footnotes into proper inline citations - currently they're all appended at the end of the draft, but they're supposed to be placed directly after the statements they support. Furthermore, most of the references seem to be primary sources such as the websites of organizations Riordan is affiliated with, but Wikipedia content is supposed to be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as newspaper coverage. Significant coverage in such sources is also required to establish Riordan's notability. Huon (talk) 02:32, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This looks like an advertisement to me. There are no reliable sources, let alone ones independent of the subject; without such sources the draft's content ins unverifiable and Bachchan seems non-notable. If, as your username suggests, you are Prakash Bachchan, you may also have a conflict of interest - writing an autobiography is strongly discouraged. I have no idea, and I doubt Wikipedia is the place for such questions. However, your draft desperately needs reliable sources that are independent of the subject to establish Force Hotel's notability. Furthermore, it currently reads like an advertisement and should be rewritten in a more neutral tone. Huon (talk) 13:36, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am writing about a canal. And I have provided links to various Govt websites/portals, from where I have gathered most of the information presented. But it says declined submission because of lack of reliable sources for content. If one could only google, "Eastern Yamuna Canal", one could even see it on the Google Map. And the Google map update was also provided by this same author. Please help. Articles for creation/Eastern Yamuna Canal — Preceding unsigned comment added by Javed1972 (talkcontribs) 07:47, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There are sources establishing the canal exists. But what we need to establish its notability is significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject - a name on Google Maps is hardly significant coverage. Furthermore, several of your "references" are other Wikipedia articles, but Wikipedia does not cosider itself reliable - that would be rather circular. The sources about Ali Mardan Khan may mention the canal, but that's in no way clear because they don't name it - since Ali Mardan Khan's canal projects detailed in those sources apparently were in the vicinity of Lahore while the Eastern Yamuna Canal is near New Delhi, they actually seem to be about different canals. Other sources do not confirm the statements they are cited for - for example, the very last source does not mention a hydro power project. My suggestion would be to remove all those deficient sources and to look for better ones, either newspaper coverage or maybe books on engieering history that actually discuss this canal in some detail.
And while that's a comparatively minor issue, the draft suffers from quite some overlinking. We can expect our readers to know the meaning of terms such as "east", "mile" or "sir", and there's no need to link "canal" more than once. Huon (talk) 13:36, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
