This article that I've tried to submit to Wikipedia has not been approved because it needs independent sources. There is a textbook written by the founder of the HRC. This wouldn't be considered independent, would it? Rrolar (talk) 03:22, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, a textbook written by the founder would probably not be independent. Newspaper coverage would be much better. As an aside, unless there's a reliable source connecting Roosevelt's 1958 remarks to the charity founded in 2009, that looks like an original synthesis of sources, something we shouldn't engage in. Huon (talk) 04:28, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Could You please help - I got an answer "This submission provides insufficient context for those unfamiliar with the subject matter" for submitted article about a public person - Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Sergey Shishkarev. I don't really understand what is wrong and what I should change. Key157 (talk) 06:29, 7 November 2012 (UTC) Regards, Lena.[reply]

I don't understand why the article is supposed to provide insufficient context either. I'm certainly not familiar with Russian politics, but the context seems obvious to me. There are some other problems, though. Firstly, many of the sources are primary sources such as Shishkarev's own website or the books he wrote. Others, such as the State Club or the Russian Academy of Public Administration, don't mention Shishkarev at all. But Wikipedia content should be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject. The Vedomosti biography seems the best source, but I don't think it can support everything that currenlty relies on primary or otherwise dubious sourches. Secondly, some minor context is indeed missing: For example I would expect the article to mention Shishkarev's party affiliation. And while that's not a reason to decline the submission, the text currently reads more like a list of bullet points than like running text. Most of the sentences don't even have a subject.
So in short my suggestion would be to find more reliable sources like newspaper articles about Shishkarev, and to remove or de-emphasize the less helpful sources. Primary sources should be used with care, not as the basis of significant parts of the draft, and not for contentious statements. Huon (talk) 09:21, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for a detailed answer, i'll work on the issues you've mentioned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Key157 (talkcontribs) 10:32, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Inorganic chemistry

what are the density of INORGANIC COMPOUND? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.28.222.191 (talk) 10:39, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Please consider asking this question at the Wikipedia:Reference desk. They specialize in knowledge questions and will try to answer any question in the universe (except how to use Wikipedia, since that is what the Help Desk is for). Just follow the link, select the relevant section, and ask away. You could always try searching Wikipedia for an article related to the topic you want to know more about. I hope this helps. It would depend on the compound at hand, though, and can vary wildly. See the list of inorganic compounds for specific examples. Huon (talk) 11:05, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Improved article

[edit]

Hi Huon, in my improved article about the musician ""Stefan Obermaier" is still no movement, have I done everything right? ( I wrote you here at the 5th Nov, the topic was called "my second article", -a half year ago, the article was declined, because I haven't found enough reliable sources at the www (only in paper form, where I have my informations from), but now there are reliable sources (few in German, few in English) on the internet, because the musician had some new releases. What you think? Thanks, best, Kirschblume (talk) 11:25, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't had the time to look at the draft again, but Joe Roe has accepted it. Congratulations, and thank you for your good work! Huon (talk) 13:14, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw that, it is done! Now I learned a lot.. Thanks and best, Kirschblume (talk) 13:16, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just re-worked an article, but can't seem to find the button to submit the article — Preceding unsigned comment added by RobMZ1 (talkcontribs) 15:10, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have resubmitted the draft for you. You can do so yourself by adding {{subst:submit}} to the very top. Huon (talk) 15:33, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

shyamaprasad lahiri- lahiri mahasay

[edit]

please publish the biography and achievements of the saint shyamaprasad lahiri with supernatural powers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.195.18.133 (talk) 15:48, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to write a draft about the saint, please use the Article Wizard. If you want others to write an article about him, the right venue would be WP:Requested articles and its subpages, here probably a subsection of Wikipedia:Requested articles/Biography/By profession#Religious figures depending on the saint's religion. In any case you should provide reliable sources such as newspaper articles covering him. Huon (talk) 15:59, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Instructions for resubmitting an article

[edit]

How does one resubmit an article at AfC? I am trying to reply to a question at WP:Help desk#Submission, and I can see that the draft was not currently submitted for review, but I don't know what to tell the questioner. I looked at the AfC documentation and couldn’t find anything about submission. If an experienced editor like me can’t figure out how to do it, it is too damn hard. (See WP:AFD for a page that gives good process directions.) —teb728 t c 20:51, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've replied at the help desk. The decline message contains explicit instructions for resubmission. I don't think the authors of drafts are supposed to ever need the AfC pages beyond the draft itself and possibly this help desk. Huon (talk) 21:04, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
