[edit]I was wotking on the article in my sandbox which was rejected as non notable. I was adding references and was ready to submit but the link and highlighted red box is gone. I must have hit a button in error. My sandbox page is now just the article name in black with the first submission line in black. I can still hit edit and see and edit article but can't resubmit.--Kimcarysgram (talk) 02:23, 16 November 2012 (UTC) I now don't have a link on top of my page for a sandbox. The sandbox link is gone and doesn't appear I have a link to resubmit.--Kimcarysgram (talk) 02:51, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- I fixed that; some curly brackets had gone missing. But unfortunately I had to nominate the draft for speedy deletion as a copyright violation of, say, this obituary and several other versions thereof. Even if the copyright permission could be obtained (see WP:Requesting copyright permission for details), the draft would have to be significantly rewritten; the obituary's author had an obvious conflict of interest. For example, "beautiful children" is obviously a personal opinion, written by their uncle if I'm not mistaken. Thus it's probably easier to rewrite the article from scratch than to bother with copyright permission, which would probably be complicated by the multitude of organizations claiming copyright for the obituary: Here's another version claiming copyright for the Boston Globe and the NY Times Group.
- And on an even more basic level I doubt Dennehy is notable enough for a Wikipedia article. The only event in his life that received newspaper coverage is his death, and Wikipedia is not a memorial.
- Your sandbox is at User:Kimcarysgram/sandbox, but when your draft was moved to its current location only a redirect remained. I re-added the sandbox template, but if you intend to fix the article on Dennehy, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/James W. Dennehy is the preferred location. In particular, please avoid creating a second draft on the same subject. Huon (talk) 03:11, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
This makes it a little clearer. I wasn't looking for a Memorial. The "Legion of Merit" is a pretigious award that is usually given to officers of higher rank. I did include the article in March 2011 before his death. My goal is to have his name added for receiving that award. I'd appreciate any suggestions.--Kimcarysgram (talk) 04:33, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi Huon & legoktm. Sheesh, I have two of you looking after me. I feel special. Thank you both once again for you comments. I'm pleased to hear that the solution might be easily solved. Believe it or not I just found a site from the Rochester Institute of Technology in the USA (RIT) concerning information of when he was a student there. The bio on that site sort of verifies what I have managed to piece together with even some newer information. However, before I go to all the trouble of revising, could you tell me if you would consider this a reliable source? If not, then what I will do is get rid of all the individual 'exhibitions' and 'awards' and just say that he has exhibited and won numerous awards since 1982 and just use the general 'Representation' section at the end. this should negate the Gallery East reference. I will also get rid of the Blasingham information and delete her reference. Does this sound like an appropriate solution? The site for RIT is <http://www.rit.edu/cias/art/nontoxic/grad/david/david.htm> Thanks, once again. JoeJoebzz (talk) 06:10, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- The RIT's pritmaking school apparently provides biographies of some of their graduate studentes. It seems likely that those graduate students had a hand in writing the biographies, which would make them primary sources. My suggestion would be indeed to remove most of the awards in the way you suggested, but to try and find newspaper references for some of the more prestigious awards he won. Maybe something like the 1999 East Kimberley Art Awards made the local news? The 1984 National Art Competition also looks like something that should have generated newspaper coverage. The problem will probably be finding that coverage; that's before the internet age so we're unlikely to find something online. Huon (talk) 12:05, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi Huon. Thanks for the information. I finally understand what you and legoktm have been trying to explain about the sources. I'll see what I can do about newspaper references. It will probably take awhile. If I can't get any information, I'll just go with my first idea. Thanks so much. JoeJoebzz (talk) 01:09, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
Hello there! I´m new here and I´m trying to submit a new article, Articles for creation/Kenneth M. Lewis, but it has been declined 3 times...I understand I really need help...can someone show me how to improve my submission please? Any good idea on how to write references and external links in the right way?
Oslocat (talk) 11:03, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- The draft's main problem is not the reference formatting, but that it doesn't show significant coverage in reliable sources in the first place. Both the current sources look like directory entries; neither writes a single sentence of text about Lewis. They don't even serve to verify such basic facts as his birthday.
- The draft also claims our Pokémon: The First Movie article as a reference, but firstly, Wikipedia does not consider itself a reliable source and should not be used as a reference, and secondly, the AllMusic credits for that soundtrack don't confirm Lewis' role.
- What we need to establish his notability is coverage in newspapers or music magazines that provides some details about Lewis; we usually require more than one source writing at least a paragraph each.
- For the technical side of things, WP:LINK explains how to add external links (and you've already done so), and WP:External links explains what to link. For references, please have a look at WP:Referencing for beginners and Help:Footnotes; see also WP:Citing sources for a more general overview of sources on Wikipedia. This has just been reviewed and rejected and I should like to ask for assistance in moving this forwards. I cannot see an easy way of replying directly to the reviewers comments on the page, so I hope you can offer two items of advice here.
Taking the reviewers comments in order... "you could include some information such as the development and reception of the episode." If I had access to any such information, I could consider including it. There doesn't appear to be anything like this available on the internet. I created the page after reviewing the format used for a number of other Batman TV episode descriptions and followed the format used for those. The plot summary was written directly after having watched the episode and has been checked with the two referenced sites listed.
"what is the "Cliffhanger Text" section supposed to be?" Part 1 of each Batman story finished with him in some life-threatening situation, which would be resolved in the opening moments of episode two. The voiceover recites the cliffhanger text, which is displayed on screen. Listing this as a section within the article is a feature of other episodes described within Wikipedia, see for an example Marsha's Scheme of Diamonds
These same questions can also be asked of my other current document for review at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Deep Freeze (Batman: '60sTelevision Series) I'd appreciate any comments that can help me move these forwards so that I can add more similar pages from current broadcast recordings. If I had thought of it earlier, I would have been able to record the entire run, I should at least be able to fill in many of the later gaps.

- I don't think that without information on the episode's real-world significance, such as the development or reception, the draft will be suitable for Wikipedia. The episode articles we already have are in no better shape, but while other problematic articles exist, that's no reason to create more; each submission must stand on its own merits.
- Furthermore, neither IMDb nor tv.com look like reliable sources to me. The former has very little editorial oversight, and the latter seems to have none at all - it's user-submitted content. We require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject to establish its notability - in this case, reviews or maybe books on the Batman franchise covering the TV series might be the most likely sources. Huon (talk) 15:12, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. I now of no better internet sources of information about these episodes, nor do I have anything written that I can refer to. I will try and take this a little further, it is possible that a friend of mine will have some more suitable, printed reference material. I have created these descriptions from a viewing of the episodes in question. If I can find no printed material to refer to, I will simply have to delete the rest of the episodes I have recorded and leave Wikipedia without further information here as it is clear that, without any source that the reviewers can refer to, there is no chance of these articles being accepted and therefore little point in creating more of them. Theshadowgallery (talk) 21:13, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
Please give me some advice on how to revise this article so it will be accepted. Which partis causing it to be rejected?

- The draft cites no reliable sources. We need significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as newspaper articles, both to establish the company's notability and to allow our readers to verify the draft's content. Furthermore, the draft is rather full of marketing buzzwords and might run into problems because it sounds too promotional. Hard facts such as the company's revenues or the number of employees are missing. Huon (talk) 17:46, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Review of User:Heather Chait/sandbox
[edit]The first page I created on Wikipedia was for the Center for Cultural Judaism. This center has now been renamed the Posen Foundation for which a new page has been created and is awaiting review for publication. I'm not sure how to delete the Center for Cultural Judaism page though.
Thanks for your help!Heather Chait (talk) 16:18, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- As the lone significant contributor to the Center for Cultural Judaism article you can nominate it for speedy deletion by adding {{db-author}} to the very top.
- However, neither that article nor your current draft for the Posen Foundation cite any reliable sources that are independent of the subject. We need significant coverage in such sources, both to establish the topic's notability and to allow our readers to verify the articles' content. Without such sources the draft will not be accepted, and the Center article might also be nominated for deletion on notability grounds. Huon (talk) 17:46, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
hi, I need some help. I want to see this article on the wikkipedia. My article is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Clasps in Orthodontics (2). I have done lots hard work for this. but it was declined. I want to know, actually what I need to modify/do in the article to get accepted. And yes I have pictures of my own too but I am not able to upload there. What I need to do? help me out.[Dr Mustapha 16:28, 16 November 2012 (UTC)] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mustapha mansuri (talk • contribs)
- The reviewer pointed to WP:IINFO: Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, and raw data should be explained and put in context. You have a very long list of all kinds of different clasps with intricate details, but a very short introduction to the topic in general. It would be better to add more on clasps in general than to give the name and inventor for every shape a clasp can be bent into. Furthermore, the draft is rather difficult to understand for laypersons - I had no idea what a "Young loop forming plier" is, for example. Links to relevant articles might help. (In the case of the plier I doubt the name of the tool used to manufacture the clasp is that relevant anyway.)
- The draft also has problems regarding its sources. Major parts don't cite any source at all, and some sources don't support what they're cited for. For example, the source for the Crozat clasp consists of five chapters on clasps; four of them don't even mention the Crozat clasp, and the fifth doesn't say it provides better retention than the Full clasp.
- If the images come with a free license, you can upload them to the Wikimedia Commons using their Upload Wizard. Once they're uploaded the picture tutorial explains how to add them to the article. However, non-free images will not be acceptable. Huon (talk) 17:46, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your comment Huon. yes, This article relates to dentistry. It will be really very difficult to understand for the general people. But it is very easy and simple for a people in the field of dendistry and young's loop forming plier is like ABCD.... of english, from the day 1,a dental student come to know about that and every day they use it in their life. And yes about citation, most of the text are taken from book by author Bhalaji, Lohakre, M S Rani, C P Adam and rest citation are also given there. For each and every word or sentence ,I have not added the citation but all the materials are genuinely from these books and what citation I have provided there. But yes, I have tried to upload my own pictures for all those clasps but I was not able so I submitted without pictures. But I will try to upload the pictures again if I will be able.Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Clasps in Orthodontics (2)Dr Mustapha 04:07, 17 November 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mustapha mansuri (talk • contribs)
