WikiGap Nigeria Online is a Nigeria public writing competition to create and improve articles to strengthen Wikipedia's coverage of Nigerian women. The winners will receive great prizes. The Challenge is organized as part of the global WikiGap campaign by Wikimedia Nigeria in collaboration with African Women in the Media ( AWIM) and the Embassy of Sweden in Nigeria.
It will first start with a 3hr online training followed by a 2-week long online Challenge. Its also a build up on the previous event held in March 2020 to commemorate the International women’s day event in Lagos that produced 10 Wikipedia biographies about Nigerian women; As a major concern on the spread of COVID19 in Nigeria, we plan to host an online training for the introduction of Wikipedia to interested Nigerians who are interested in contributing to Wikipedia.
Only articles, images, and other content about Nigerian women are acceptable for this contest.
At the start of the contest, the article should not exist or should be a very, very basic stub, allowing for an overhaul; any creation or overhaul (of stubs) done before the start of a particular contest will not be accepted as part of the contest.
Remember to indicate articles you have created or overhauled, for specific contests here, if they are not listed already.
These contests are currently available, only for the English Wikipedia. However, created or translated articles in other languages are very welcome.
Wikimedia UG Nigeria will announce the winners and communicate accordingly for each contest.
Anyone with an account on Wikipedia can participate in the contest.
Participants are expected to respect our copyright policy. Contents that violate this policy will not be accepted and their articles will be speedily deleted.
