WikiAfrica Incubator
Contribution to other Wikipedias
Hello, what template do I use to categorise articles under WikiAfrica that I have made in other Wikipedia apart from English? Since I come from Kenya, at times I prefer editting in Swahili rather than English. This way am still putting information about Africa Online but just in another language. --Stephenwanjau (talk) 15:49, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Stephen, we have made it very easy for people to add articles in other languages. When creating a new article, place the name of the language before the name of the article, e.g. Swahili/'name of article'. Here is an example that was used as a test: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiAfrica/Stubs/Swahili/Test_article
- Once it is ready for the main namespace, we will change the url. I hope this answers your questions? We have tried to make it more obvious on the an Article page. Hope this helps? Isla Haddow 10:17, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi there, I titled my article Andrew Esiebo but now it doesnt show up and is just titled as a Stub... I dont know how to fix this.
Categories in the Incubator!
I have written some articles and categorized them. Everything seems to work just fine except for the Dibot which is adding the : to the categories that I inserted. For instance the revision this. Does it mean the categories will be in their right wiki syntax format when the article shall be imported to the main space? OR It is the bot malfunctioning? ₫ӓ₩₳ Talk to Me. - Hi Stephen, great question. Yes, Dibot is doing it on purpose - essentially, this allows us to use mainspace categories without putting the article in the mainspace yet. The developers who put together the Incubator worked on the Russian version, explain it like this: "It replaces the category to the links and interwiki to the links. That is,
- [[Category: .... -> [[:Category: ....
- [[de: .... -> [[:de: ....
- http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:InterWiki
- In the Russian section prohibited the appearance of "not articles" in the categories of "articles". Just Interwiki. This rule is valid in the Russian section of the workpiece during your stub stay in the Incubator. I do not know the rules of the English section. But I think it is reasonable.
- When the article is ready, and moved into the main space (the space of articles), categories and interwiki should be restored. That is, substitute
- [[:Category: .... -> [[Category: ....
- [[:de: .... -> [[de: ....
- This makes it one of the inspectors (helpers), who decides on the readiness of the article and to transfer it into the main space. For example: http://ru.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?&diff=prev&oldid=46639989
- [[:de:Khin Nyunt]] -> [[de:Khin Nyunt]]
- [[:en:Khin Nyunt]] -> [[en:Khin Nyunt]]
- Does this work for you and answer your question?Isla Haddow 09:46, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
- That answers my question pretty well. Thank you for taking the time. At first I thought that the Bot was misbehaving ;) ₫ӓ₩₳ Talk to Me. Email Me. 10:52, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
Assistance needed with stub moved to main page
Hello all, I tried to move the George Museum Stub to the main page by applying the "Move" command. I am unable to locate the article to do the post move cleanup. My knowledge is very basic and I do not want to cause further damage in case I have done something wrong. I would appreciate assistance to get the article to the main page.
Assistance with translated article needed
Good day, I wrote an article about the George Museum in English. I translated it into Afrikaans. Will there be copyright issues if I used the same images as the ones I used in the English version?
I also did not manage to translate the automated text for example "Content" and the info list categories into Afrikaans. I would appreciate if somebody could assist with this. I also need to move the article to the Afrikaans main page, but do not know how to do this? Do I follow the same steps as with an English article?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Lorinda
