Tip of the moment...
![]() Become clairvoyant with Navigation Popups
Here's how to install a nifty little program called Navigation Popups, that lets you peer into Wikipedia articles when you hover the mouse cursor over internal links:
For this to work, make sure you have not disabled javascript in your browser. By the way, Navigation Popups is recursive: it works on links that appear in its popups. – – Read more: To add this auto-randomizing template to your user page, use {{totd-random}}

Tip of the day...
Join the fight against vandalism
Wikipedia is currently fighting a war on vandalism. Wikipedia is vandalized many thousands of times per day, with most of these occurrences corrected within minutes or even seconds. This requires many volunteers in an organized effort to repair this damage. The Wikipedians on the front lines of this battle are the members of Wikipedia's intrepid Counter-Vandalism Unit (CVU). The CVU has developed specialized tools, procedures, and initiatives for fighting vandalism on Wikipedia. You can be of great service to Wikipedia by joining the CVU. ![]() – – To add this auto-updating template to your user page, use {{totd3}}
|
The Tip of the Day project provides a different piece of advice for using Wikipedia every day. Like the Picture of the Day, you can include it on your userpage by adding {{totd}} somewhere (at the top of your talk page is a good place for it). The randomized version (displayed above) is {{totd-random}}, and shows a different tip each time it is displayed on your screen. Other formats for the TOTD exist, such as the more compact {{totd3}}, or you can make your own by including {{Wikipedia:Tip of the day/{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTDAY}}, {{CURRENTYEAR}}}} on your userpage (which includes the raw text, without any formatting) and then enclose it in your own formatting. To float the tip of the day to the right of content (as it is displayed here), place this code where you want the tip to show up: {{right|{{totd3}}}}.
Style tips[edit]
A spin off of the tip of the day, this is another template that provides useful instruction a little at a time.

Pics and images[edit]
There is a huge selection of pictures on Wikipedia and its sister site Wikimedia Commons. Pictures can be a powerful way to express yourself...

Pictures can be found all over Wikipedia, but it can be very time-consuming to hunt for them in the encyclopedia's articles. Another option is to browse Wikipedia's collections...

Picture(s) of the day[edit]
The Picture of the Day, which changes daily, is currently displayed every day on the Main Page, and you can use it to decorate your userpage as well...

Bispira volutacornis, sometimes known as the twin fan worm or spiral fan worm, is a type of tube worm found in the shallow sublittoral zone of the eastern Atlantic Ocean. It grows in crevices and in stony areas and prefers areas rich in sediment but with low levels of illumination. It has a parchment-like tube with a mucoid outer layer that is often coated with mud or silt. The tube is usually concealed in a crevice and the worm can retract into the tube when disturbed. It feeds on plankton which it captures with its plumes. It also uses the plumes to gather sediment with which to expand the tube. This B. volutavornis worm was photographed in Arrábida Natural Park, Portugal.

If you'd rather have it without the text (to make it smaller), you can use {{Wikipedia:POTD/{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}}_{{CURRENTDAY}},_{{CURRENTYEAR}} instead.
