Ready to create an assignment plan?
Wiki Ed is excited to announce that we will be launching a new set of tools for creating and tracking a Wikipedia assignment for the Fall 2015 term. You may look through the wizard now, but we are advising instructors teaching with Wikipedia in the fall to wait for our new tools to be ready to plan their assignments. Those teaching during the summer, should go through the current wizard to plan their Wikipedia projects. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Helaine Blumenthal. We look forward to working with you in the Fall! |
To use the Assignment Design Wizard, you'll need to be logged in to your Wikipedia account. If you're not logged in — or if you don't have an account yet — click the appropriate link at the top right, and return here once you're logged in.
If you just created your account, you'll also need to initialize your account globally. To do so, simply click this link to visit another wiki, then return here.
- Adjusting the length of your assignment plan
At the beginning of the wizard, you will be asked to enter details about your class, including start/end dates for both your course and for your Wikipedia assignment within the course. You can use the Assignment starts and Assignment ends dates to limit the length of your Wikipedia assignment plan. For creating or expanding Wikipedia articles, we recommend a timeline of at least 12 weeks, but the wizard supports squeezing things in to as few as 6 weeks.
