"Streets" is a song by American rapper and singer Doja Cat. An R&B ballad from her second studio album, Hot Pink (2019), it is about a desire to return to a former romantic partner. Garnering viral popularity on the video-sharing application TikTok, the song became a sleeper hit around 15 months after Hot Pink's release. It appeared as background music in over 300,000 TikTok videos, collectively known as the "Silhouette Challenge", in which participants danced while illuminated from behind with red lighting. Due to the challenge's popularity, "Streets" was sent to US contemporary hit radio stations as Hot Pink's seventh and final single, on February 16, 2021. The song peaked within the top 20 of charts in several countries, including the US Billboard Hot 100, because of its Internet-driven success. A music video for "Streets" premiered the next month, and it depicts Doja Cat's own version of the Silhouette Challenge. (Full article...)
