Only has a single link (and three entries in total). Yet another one of these esport navboxes (might be the fourth or fifth I've nominated) that fails its sole purpose of wikilink navigation. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:45, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Subst and redirect. Well, the template needs to be kept around for attribution so I'll move it to 2014 Lok Sabha election results (Tamil Nadu) and redirect (non-admin closure) Galobtter (pingó mió) 06:16, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Given that this module is only used on five pages, whereas Module:No globals is used on millions, it is clear that consensus says that trying to use global variables should be an error and therefore this module should be deleted. {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 15:32, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • The purpose of the module isn't to make it possible to use global variables, but to make it easier to remove them. With Module:No globals, you get an error message for the first global variable that is encountered. If there are multiple global variables, you have to localize a variable, run the module, localize a variable, run the module, etc. for each global variable. You might even have to go localize variables in another module before continuing with the module you're in. Very inefficient. With Module:Log globals, you can look in the Lua log and see the full list of global variables that need to be removed, with stack traces, so you can remove all of them at once (and ignore those in other modules). Much easier when you're dealing with a module that's full of global variables. — Eru·tuon 17:43, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Why is that not in Module:No globals instead? --Izno (talk) 23:33, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    I dunno. I didn't write Module:No globals. But the approaches of logging and erroring are mutually exclusive. — Eru·tuon 01:27, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The modules could be merged if some way were devised to switch between the two behaviors: for instance, the module could export a function that takes a boolean argument to determine whether to throw an error or log. (That would require editing the modules that currently use Module:No globals so they call the return value of the module.) Or it could export a function that, if called, would change the behavior from erroring to logging, so require("Module:No globals") would throw an error and require("Module:No globals")() would log. That would be cryptic, but wouldn't require editing. — Eru·tuon 01:37, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
