Shortcuts
Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users are rarely approved unless they have either 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, you must first have a bot approval request approved, or in trial; link to your BRFA in the request.
This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.
If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.

I will use AWB to tag galaxy-related (and other astronomical objects) with the appropriate talk page banners (WP:ASTRONOMICAL OBJECTS), and will use it to tag "Weather of _____" (and other weather articles) with the corresponding task force talk page banner tags. I'm requesting AWB access because I create and aim to create a lot of pages, and manually adding links to the pages I created can take a lot of time. I already used it on Wikia a few years ago. Some of those edits left capital letters in the middle of sentences where there should be lower-case letters and changed WP:ENGVAR spellings. This edit did not change the rendered page, so it would be an invalid edit to make with AWB. Making such changes at scale is probably not a good idea. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:59, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
