Issues to be mediated
[edit]- Primary issues (added by the filing party)
I'm seeking a dispute resolution for the following articles: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Khazar_hypothesis_of_Ashkenazi_ancestry and https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Ashkenazi_Jews. I'm not sure who has been reverting my edits. But, the person with the username Debresser posted comments to the section I created in the talk section of the second one and the person with the username Shrike sent an alert saying the following:"You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia." I would like the sentences in the first article saying "Genetic studies on Jews have found no substantive evidence of a Khazar origin among Ashkenazi Jews, as opposed to evidence they have mixed Near Eastern/Mediterranean/Southern European origins. The hypothesis has been used at times by anti-Zionists to challenge the idea Jews have ancestral ties to ancient Israel, and has also played a role in antisemitic attitudes." deleted. The first sentence is inaccurate. The following studies support the theory: A MOSAIC OF PEOPLE: THE JEWISH STORY AND A REASSESSMENT OF THE DNA EVIDENCE by Ellen Levy Coffman and "The Missing Link of Jewish European Ancestry: Contrasting the Rhineland and the Khazarian Hypotheses." by Eran Elhaik. The second sentence is prejudicial. I would like the section of the second article entitled "Khazar Hypothesis" to say the following: "In the late 19th century, it was proposed that the core of today's Ashkenazi Jewry are genetically descended from a hypothetical Khazarian Jewish diaspora who had migrated westward from modern Russia and Ukraine. The results of genetic studies conflict on the theory. A 2013 trans-genome study carried out by 30 geneticists, from 13 universities and academies, from 9 countries, assembling the largest data set available to date, for assessment of Ashkenazi Jewish genetic origins found no evidence of Khazar origin among Ashkenazi Jews. "Thus, analysis of Ashkenazi Jews together with a large sample from the region of the Khazar Khaganate corroborates the earlier results that Ashkenazi Jews derive their ancestry primarily from populations of the Middle East and Europe, that they possess considerable shared ancestry with other Jewish populations, and that there is no indication of a significant genetic contribution either from within or from north of the Caucasus region", the authors concluded. Other studies support the theory, for example, "A MOSAIC OF PEOPLE: THE JEWISH STORY AND A REASSESSMENT OF THE DNA EVIDENCE"[1] by Ellen Levy Coffman and "The Missing Link of Jewish European Ancestry: Contrasting the Rhineland and the Khazarian Hypotheses." [2] by Eran Elhaik.
Someone wants to keep information that contradicts his view off of Wikipedia. The issue of the ancestry of Ashkenazi Jews is a political one. But, politics and science don't mix.

Decision of the Mediation Committee
[edit]- Reject. Defective filing since no other parties listed. However, I've taken a look at the history of this and this filing would have been rejected under prerequisite to mediation #4 and/or #9, and perhaps #3, even if the other parties had been listed.
