Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2010 July 8

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You need to add more reliable references to the article, preferably using inline citations. Also the categories need fixing - at the moment they all don't exist as they are red links. One last idea would be to add an infobox, such as this example. Chevymontecarlo - alt 05:23, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request for feedback on my page on Hammerhead whistles, Thank you!

~~Laxette0217 (talk) 03:58, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You definitely need to add more reliable references to the article, if you can. These should preferably use inline citations. Without these references, the article is very likely to get deleted for spam once you move it into the main space. Also an infobox would be a good idea as well to include - try this. Hope this is helpful! :-) Chevymontecarlo - alt 05:18, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering if my first wiki page is ready. Looking for some feedback. thank you.

~~FootballerService (talk) 06:42, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nice article. The most obvious suggestion would probably be please try and find a picture to add to the article, if you can. Chevymontecarlo - alt 05:15, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request to our Wikipedians,
I'm very happy that my First Article has achieved B-Class on the very first day. After our fellow wikipedians comments, i have worked a lot to Improve my article. I have added a Lot to the article - Images, logos,Geographical Co-ordinates,Charts, Block Diagrams, Tables, National Stock Exchange Details, Criticism for Neutrality of the Article, Many Government web sources for proven references, etc. I have put all my effort to make it achieve Good Article Status. Now, I request all of you to review My Article to provide your valuable feedback.

~~Raj6644 (talk) 10:51, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nice improvements, but there's a very small mistake - one of the categories does not exist because it is a red link, so please remove it. Chevymontecarlo - alt 05:08, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Chevy!. I have removed that link.
Well done, I think the article is very good. Chevymontecarlo - alt 15:05, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You have created an excellent article with a good amount of information, citations and references, but I would say maybe try and add more categories and links to the article, if you can. Chevymontecarlo - alt 05:06, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

help with neutral language please!

~~Gg2010 (talk) 15:27, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please try and give the references a more suitable name other than a bare URL, such as this - [http://www.apple.com|Apple official site]. I've made some minor improvements, but to make the article's subject more notable you need to include more reliable references to the article, preferably using inline citations. Hope this is helpful. Chevymontecarlo - alt 05:00, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You might also want to consider adding an infobox to the article, as well. The most suitable template would probably be Template:Infobox company. I hope you understand this, but please send me a message if you don't. Thanks. Chevymontecarlo - alt 05:02, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great, Thanks! That helps a lot :-) Gg2010 (talk) 18:11, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

I am trying to document history of dotcom days in India and have started covergae of websites which were notable during that period and survived. This is my first article. Look forward to feedback. Thanks

~~Deepblue555 (talk) 16:44, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Try and add some categories to the article. You can begin searching for categories to add to the article here. Thanks and I hope you understand. Chevymontecarlo - alt 04:56, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I added catogeries. Modified the content and also put inline citations. i hope its looking finenow.Deepblue555 (talk) 09:08, 11 July 2010 (UTC)deepblue555[reply]

Yep. Good job! Don't forget to sign your posts with the four tildes, like this - ~~~~. Chevymontecarlo 05:08, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is my first contribution, so I'd like feedback on how well I followed the style and neutral tone. Some of the sources I cite aren't available as links so I did inline citations. The purpose of the article is to offer general information about a notable building and church congregation in downtown San Jose, California. Several very similar churches in other cities have Wikipedia pages, so I felt confident it would meet the "notability" test.

~~Rcreative1 (talk) 19:31, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please try and add names to the references, like this:
<ref>[http://www.amazingsite.co.uk Amazing site homepage]</ref>

Also, please consider doing the same to the external links as well. Adding categories to the article would also be a good idea. Lastly, I would consider adding an infobox to the article as well. I hope all these suggestions will be helpful for you :-) Chevymontecarlo - alt 15:24, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi: This is the fourth draft of this article. I have been taking the advice of the administrators who have reviewed previous articles and made every effort to follow Wikipedia guidelines. I am hoping that I have reached the point where my article can be made a part of Wikipedia. If you review the article and find it lacking, please before speedily deleting it, simply voice your concerns and I will address them. Thank you. Paramedicjames (talk) 20:57, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment... It looks great. I suggest you make the headers lower case with the first letter in upper case. Other than that it is good!

Thanks. I made the change. Paramedicjames (talk) 01:31, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

~~Paramedicjames (talk) 20:57, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would consider adding an infobox to the article - maybe this would be good enough. It'd be a good idea - it helps to summarise the key points and information about the company. Chevymontecarlo - alt 05:10, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chevymontecarlo: Thank you very much. I created an infobox using the template you suggested and by following the guidelines associated with that template. Did I make it in an acceptable manner? Again, thanks. I appreciate your help. Paramedicjames (talk) 13:53, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, although infoboxes are normally supposed to put at the top of an article. I have moved it for you, but there's two references at the top that aren't supposed to be there, so please try and add a name to them and place them in the relevant part of the article, like this:
''The Guardian'' published an article in 2009 about this <ref>[http://www.guardian.co.uk/article/example Guardian article 13/01/10]</ref>

Hope you understand this. Chevymontecarlo - alt 14:56, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I do understand! Thanks. I fixed the problem. I appreciate your help and patience. Paramedicjames (talk) 20:59, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent! :) Chevymontecarlo 05:09, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How does my page Max Jones look? It is for the thirteen year old journalist, Max Jones. How do I put a picture, birthdate, ect. on the upper right hand side like larger postings such as Campbell Brown? If you review the article and find it not up to par, please simply voice your concerns before deleting it and I will address them. Thank You.

~~Torontonian333 (talk) 23:46, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The best way to do what you've described is to add an infobox. Also, you need to add some suitable names to the references, like this:
[http://www.apple.com Apple website]

As well as this please try and find some suitable categories to the article. You can begin searching for suitable categories here. Thanks! Chevymontecarlo - alt 15:02, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

just looking for some general feedback so I can get this article up as a complete entry, thanks

~~204.108.16.159 (talk) 23:57, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's looking very good so far. I'd recommend two things for your references. First, you definitely need to switch to inline citations (with a references list at the end.) See Wikipedia:Inline citations to see how to do that. Secondly, for most citations, using a standard template such as Template:Cite web will definitely improve the quality of the references list at the bottom. Otherwise, stellar encyclopedia writing. elektrikSHOOS 00:40, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'd also try to find some suitable categories in which the article can go, but to be honest that's less of a pressing issue and can be done by someone else after the article is live. elektrikSHOOS 00:44, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Finally, you should consider adding a infobox to the article. Nearly all articles on Wikipedia can be greatly improved by infoboxes. elektrikSHOOS 00:46, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Expanding on Elektrik Shoos' point on infoboxes - they help to summarise the key points and information about the article so it'd be a great idea to include one. The External links seem to be dead as they are red links (they don't lead anywhere); I will try and fix them for you. Chevymontecarlo - alt 15:29, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can the article go live as is and these changes can be made then?
