[edit]Please look at this "applied mathematics" problem on science desk
[edit]I posted a question "(Science desk) Why do wheels have to be stronger when using disk brakes vs rim brakes?". Intuitively it seems to me that ignoring the mass and angular momentum of the actual wheel it makes no difference as the wheel has to transmit the braking force from the road to slow the mass of the vehicle. Could someone work out the forces on the wheel in each case (brake applied at edge vs at or near centre) -- Q Chris (talk) 15:03, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
