[edit]Gränitz
[edit]The German name for the old Croatian Military Frontier was "Krabatische Gränitz". What is the etymology of the word Gränitz? Is it used in other contexts also? --151.41.165.172 (talk) 17:34, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
- It's just an older form corresponding to the modern Standard German word Grenze ('border'), a loanword from Slavic granica (hence, corresponding exactly to the native Croatian term as cited in our article on the Croatian Military Frontier). Fut.Perf. ☼ 17:53, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
