[edit]From comments here, I see many commenting about free tv. How is TNT free tv?

- I can't find the conments you are referring to. But, I have seen people talking about WWE or AEW or other promotions "giving the fans a big match for free" even though the match was televised on cable. What is left unsaid is that "free" is only in reference to the financial relationship between fan and promoter. Yes, you pay your cable provider for access to the channel, but that doesn't really flow back to the promotion. There's a much more direct link between a fan buying a PPV and the promotion getting money.--Khajidha (talk) 19:46, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- Back in the '80s, if you saw any WWF match on your local afternoon channel, chances are Vince's own pocket paid the station to air it, the jobber got about fifty bucks and the "winner" just had to be happy he was getting seen outside of the Northeast market. And a good chunk of the hour was essentially an ad for bigger matches at obscure house shows, where "TV stars" were expected to make that real money. We've come a long way, brother!
