Wikipedia:Picture peer review/Mantis nymph

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Praying mantis nymph, approximately 4mm long, on an adult woman's finger
2nd version, uncropped, unprocessed

This is a self nomination. I've added it to the article Nymph (biology) which was previously lacking images, along with another image that's not quite as good, technically. I'm not usually much of a photographer, but the opportunity was just too good to pass up. The finger is mine, too - I had the camera in one hand and the insect on the other...

Comments:

  • Though the image itself is quite large (and gives a good idea of the nymph's size), because the nymph is such a small part of the picture it's pretty fuzzy and has very visible JPEG artifacting when you look at the full-size version. A good photo for the article, but quality issues probably mean it isn't going to succeed in becoming a featured photo - unless you have a higher-quality version without the JPEG artifacts?
