Wikipedia:Peer review/List of awards and nominations received by Raye/archive1

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've listed this article for peer review with the aim of then nominate it for FL. I received help from Medxvo to list some awards. Any comments on how to improve the article for the future nomination will be welcomed and appreciated.

  • Is mentioning her birth name here really necessary? I did not find it on other lists of this type. It also appears to be unsourced.
  • "In 2014, she signed to the label Polydor Records to persue a musical career, beginning to release her own songs and write for other artists, including Beyoncé and Charli XCX" - "pursue"? I have also been discouraged from using this "ing" form to connect two different parts of a sentence before, so how about "In 2014, she signed with the label Polydor Records to pursue a musical career and began releasing her own songs and writing for other artists, including Beyoncé and Charli XCX"?
  • Suggest using release years in brackets wherever new songs are introduced, for e.g. "Bridge over Troubled Water", "You Don't Know Me", "Secrets", etc.
  • "which was among her several dance releases" - This is an awards and nominations list, so is this part about the genre of her releases relevant? The timeline of when these dance releases happened is also unclear.
  • "It marked her first nomination at the Brit Awards in the 2018 ceremony, and provided her a ASCAP London Music Award." - I am not completely sure about the word choice of "marked". This also reads like it was the song that provided her the award, when it was actually the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. How about words like "earned", "received", etc.?
  • "In 2022, Raye signed to the independent company Human Re Sources after a repeated conflict with Polydor." - The Line of Best Fit source seems to provide information about what this conflict was, which you could include. I think readers would be curious about this.
  • "was released on 3 February 2023 to critical and commercial success, and spawned several singles" - Remove this comma
  • "It garnered her various accolades, including an AIM Independent Music Award and a Brits Billion Award by the British Phonographic Industry, becoming one of the first artists to win the latter." - There is something off about this sentence. Try "It garnered her various accolades, including an AIM Independent Music Award and a Brits Billion Award from the British Phonographic Industry; she became one of the first artists to win the latter."
  • "Raye is nominated for three categories at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist." - The Grammys are prestigious enough that you could mention all three categories. The lead currently comes across as a little Brit-centric
  • The actual awards and nominations table looks nice to me, and I cannot immediately identify anything that requires reworking.
  • It is not immediately obvious what "Placed" means in the Listicles table, wouldn't "unranked" be clearer?
  • You seem to have consistently followed title case for the ref titles except the first one, so I would suggest making that uniform and checking for any others.
  • Avoid capital "RAYE" in the ref titles (refs 4 and 32), as it is not an acronym
I think you have done a good job with this list and there aren't any major hindrances that would prevent it from passing an FLC. Although, it has been a lot of time since I have written a list like this so others may catch something I have missed. Best of luck with your nomination!--NØ 11:47, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@MaranoFan: Thank you for your comments! I think all of them were on point. Please let me know if there is anything else that needs to be improved before the nomination. CatchMe (talk · contribs) 12:46, 19 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It looks good enough. Anything else could probably be handled within the time constraints of an FLC.--NØ 15:59, 19 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
