Wikipedia:Peer review/Bazinga (song)/archive1

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've been working on this article for the past few months now, and I'm quite proud of how it turned out. However, I am no Wikipedia expert (or even possess good grammar), and that is why I've listed this article for peer review. I want to know the things that should be addressed to make the article much better from others peoples' perspectives. I am open to any suggestions from any part of the article. Thanks in advance! – SARASALANT (talk|contributions) 10:23, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

@Sarasalant: I just checked the article and I did minor fixes. Would you review Basshunter in return? List of issues of found:

1. "Credits are adapted from Tidal,[17] the liner notes of Pagsibol,[45] and the song's music video.[18]" - why not add reference to digital release with easly accesible credits than CD release? Just noticed Tidal release is also a Pagsibol so CD version has different credits?
Done. I removed the CD release of Pagsibol as a reference.
2. Why reference number 18 points to archived version if it's active? Add url-status = live.
Done. Added the "url-status=live" parameter for the song's music video and Toni Gonzaga's interview citations.
3. Reference number 17 - how do I hide "log in" menu? Seems there is no way to close it so I can't see some information at credits page. There should be note about it in reference.
check Partially implemented. Tidal is a subscription-based service. For the sake of research, there are ways that we can work around this: 1. By signing up to Tidal if you're in one of these territories; or 2. Use inspect element feature in your browser and delete this line of code: <div class="ReactModalPortal">. I used method 2 because Tidal is not available in the Philippines. I did add the "url-access=limited" parameter to indicate that Tidal has limited access since I think adding the exact method to view the page in the citation may end up looking ridiculous. Hopefully, that should fix this issue. Let me know what you think!
@Sarasalant: I think the second method should be saved in guides somewhere. I think you could add note about it in reference. Example: <ref>{{web cite | url = www | author =}} Here.</ref> or you have better idea for that? Eurohunter (talk) 21:53, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think "url-access" parameter should just work. Other articles also cite Tidal but don't contain such steps to remove the paywall. Some articles just used the "url-access" parameter, like Red (Taylor's Version). If you think otherwise, does "Log in to Tidal to retrieve information" or "Use inspect element and remove <div class="ReactModalPortal"> to retrieve information" work? The second option feels like it'll confuse the readers.
4. There is "Bazinga!" on cover (is that a cover? seems no if I'm right?) so which version is the main?
Done. I believe you're right, this is not a single cover art since it was not released separately from the EP digitally or physically. This image was from their Facebook page promoting the song and its music video. I reworded the caption from "Promotional cover art" to "Promotional artwork". "Bazinga" is written without the exclamation mark in most digital streaming services, so that is the main title. I believe it is just stylized with an "!".
5. "both of which have mostly pop" is linked to "Pinoy pop" so it that pop or Pinoy pop? "the boy band teased their comeback "era""?
Done. 1. I realized that there's no source that supports the claims of the genres of both songs, so I removed that part. I replaced the phrase with "the album mostly consists of an upbeat dance-pop production." 2. Replaced "...teased their comeback era" with "...teased their music comeback."
6. "some of which criticized their physical appearance,[10] style of clothing,[11] and accused of copying the Korean music culture and are not promoting the pure Filipino talents" - is a summary - would be good to have few examples.
Done. Added an example with regards to the criticisms about their physical appearance, which was included in the source material.
7. ""Bazinga" was initially released as a promotional single on July 22, 2021" - there is no information that it was promotional single in the reference number 14.
Done. Removed the sentence and rewrote the paragraph to reflect the changes.
8. "In November 2021, Billboard confirmed the song's release after it entered the Hot Trending Songs chart" - Billboard has no ability to confirm if certain release is a single or not they just described it as the other several news outlets did in previous sentance so I would add "Billboard also described the song as single".
 Done.
9. "Jonathan Tal Placido directed the accompanying music video for "Bazinga",[32][33] which premiered on YouTube on October 29, 2021." - why two references for these 2 sentences? One should be enough.
 Done. Reduced citations.
10. "Inspired by video games" - any examples?
Comment: "the music video starts with SB19 seen hanging around while preparing for a video game called Bazinga." Isn't this enough to support the phrase? If not, can you please leave a suggestion? Thanks!
11. "As of January 2022, the music video has over four million views." - direct reference to YouTube video is redundant
Done. Removed music video citation; retained ABS-CBN News article.
12. "Chart (2021–2022)" (in charts table) - so it had number one in 2021 and 2022?
Comment: Yes, the song hit number one spot in 2021 and 2022. See: December 2021 and January 2022 chart performances of "Bazinga" in HTS for examples.
Ultimatelly it's explained in "Commercial performance" section. Eurohunter (talk) 21:53, 4 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, should we remove "2022" and retain "2021"?
It had number one in both 2021 and 2022 so it is correct and "2021–2022" should stay. Eurohunter (talk) 18:45, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thanks for clarifying. – SARASALANT (talk | contributions) 08:38, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
13. Links to redirects.
Not done – please clarify. Can you specify more about it?
Done. Fixed. I believe there are no longer any redirects in the article.
14. Would be cool you aso write article at Filipino Wikipedia (Tagalog?)
Pending. I'll consider this in the future.

Thanks a lot for your review! I will try to address the said issues ahead of next week. I'll try to take a look at Basshunter's article soon and list the issues/suggestions at your peer review page. Cheers! – SARASALANT (talk | contributions) 15:41, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarasalant: Thanks. Can't wait for your review. Eurohunter (talk) 17:00, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Eurohunter: I finished going through your comments and hopefully fixed the major issues in the article. This is my first peer review, I apologize in advance if I didn't do a great job addressing the issues. I am definitely confused about item 13, hopefully you can explain that part for me. For item 14, I will try recreating the article in Tagalog in the future. Thanks! – SARASALANT (talk | contributions) 17:05, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarasalant: Thanks. Try Help:Link color. Eurohunter (talk) 17:18, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Eurohunter: I think the redirects have been sorted out now, Help:Link color did come in handy. Thanks a lot! Before closing the PR, is there any other part of the article that needs improvements? – SARASALANT (talk | contributions) 18:01, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarasalant: I would like to check yet number 3 but honestly I had no time to look at it. Article not need any improvements but some people may say hatnote about disambiguation is redundant. Eurohunter (talk) 18:45, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Eurohunter: Previously, Tidal didn't use a paywall to their website. They began doing this method recently (I forgot when exactly but probs within this year) which did affect some articles like this one. I'll definitely take a look at some articles to see how they do when citing Tidal and hopefully implement it to this article as well. I do agree with regards to the disambiguation hatnote, I removed it now on the latest revision. – SARASALANT (talk | contributions) 19:07, 8 June 2022 (UTC
@Sarasalant: Maybe there is archived version available at Wayback Machine. Eurohunter (talk) 01:06, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Eurohunter: Unfortunately, there's only one snapshot of that specific Tidal page. To make matters worse, archiving their site will just result in a black blank space (at least for my case). For now, those are the only ways we can bypass the paywall.

@Eurohunter: Thanks a lot for your review, it definitely help improving the article. Most of your suggestions were already implemented in a series of revisions, while I will be reconsidering others. Seems like this PR is now inactive, so I think I will be closing this in a day or two. Again, thanks a lot! – SARASALANT (talk | contributions) 11:46, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
