Overview
[edit]The Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft in Sussex are hosting editathons on 1 June and 12 October 2019 to improve Wikipedia's coverage of female artists. Please take part either in-person at the museum or remotely.
Wikipedia has become the world’s encyclopedia but did you know less than 10% of its editors are women? Possibly not unconnected to the fact that female artists and makers are not well documented in its pages. We aim to help to put that right by running two sessions with expert Wikipedians. Come along and get free training in Wikipedia editing and then work with us and our experts to put information about 20th century craftswomen into the public domain.
Editing support will be provided throughout the day, however we ask participants to be in attendance from the start of the session for the training. Participants are asked to bring their own laptop if possible.
Experts will be on hand to provide advice on the topics and guide participants through a rich and unique supply of source material.
Refreshments provided.
