Wikipedia:Meetup/Phnom Penh/Angkor Festival of Arts 2021

All Autoconfirmed (and higher level status) users as well as those interested in learning how to use and take part in improving the Khmer Wikipedia are cordially invited to the roundtable on the purpose of the khmer Wikipedia during the first Angkor Festival of Arts in Siemreap. After the success of the 4th Wikipedia meetup held in Phnom Penh on August 17th, 2021, after a long break and as the Kingdom of Cambodia opens up once more, this roundtable followed by an in-house essay competition on tourism and archeology in Cambodia will also be the opportunity to present the Wikipedia Khmer 2022 project.

Wikipedia, a challenge for Cambodia. While Wikipedia celebrates its 20th anniversary and its spread across the world, its existence in Khmer for over 15 years is still largely unknown despite growing interest in the era of online-learning. What is the purpose of a Khmer Wikipedia ? To answer these questions, Father Will Conquer, local moderator of the Wikipedia community, will discuss with Patrick Kersalé, of Sounds Of Angkor and Thon Varathana, of Ancient Khmer Art organization. What are the primary sources that can be used to study Khmer music? How can the Khmer have better access to quality documents concerning Angkorian archeology? The conference will be followed by an in-house Wikipedia article competition opened to all from 1pm to 4pm in the Library of the CKS: the three best articles about Khmer archeology will receive rewards sponsored by the Wikimedia Foundation and all will receive a certificate of participation.
