This is the co-ordination page for International Women's day events happening in India in March 2013.
8th March is International Women's Day and to celebrate, women in India are organizing edit-a-thons and meetups to create and expand articles of importance to women in Wikipedia in English and various Indian languages. The goal of the month-long event is to encourage more women to contribute to Wikipedia and increase representation of articles related to women in Wikipedia. The event aims at creating new articles, expanding the existing stubs and translating English articles to various Indic languages.
WikiWomen Editing Workshop

The event that was originally scheduled at the International Centre Goa has been postponed due to organisational difficulties. It will now be rescheduled for a later convenient date. Please stayed tuned.
This is a three-day online edit-a-thon for increasing the number and quality of articles related to Indian women on English and Indian language Wikipedias. Everyone is welcome to come edit Wikipedia with us at this event. Women, transpeople, Indians and those who are interested in articles related to Indian women are particularly encouraged to attend.
Dates: 8,9,10 March 2013
Time: throughout the day (Can't be there on all three days? No problem, join us as long or as little as you can)
Location: At your homes, over a cup of tea or coffee!

While working on Bangalore event we came out with a wonderful idea of capturing some moments with Indian Wiki Women. Here is some of the videos that we have received so far. We would love more such video, So join your hands to add more.

Good beginning. I wish you all the best. Please make a list of all articles about Indian women in all Indian Languages in a table form and connect Wikipedians to it and asking them to translate from one language to another language they are familiar with. In Malayalam Wikipedia, 26 users signed up for the event. 107 new articles were created and 13 articles were significantly expanded. 14 users participated in the event in English Wikipedia, 19 new English articles were created and one article was expanded. Two users signed up on Telugu Wikipedia and 97 new articles were created.
