[edit]- Requested Law Articles list
- U.S. Supreme Court cases -- many cases have no article, but most/all should.
Resources to draw from and advice
[edit]- Articles on an Supreme Court case should use the standard infobox and cite secondary sources. Please follow these style guides for SCOTUS articles: MOS:LAW and WP:SCOTUS/SG
- Relevant WikiProjects include WikiProject courts and judges, WP:SCOTUS, and WP:LAW
- Advice from User:Notecardforfree: Editors are encouraged to provide inline citations after every sentence that makes an assertion about the holding of a case; these citations should reference the page(s) of the United States Reports on which that holding appears, or the slip opinion for more recent opinions (see also WP:CITEDENSE).
- Advice from User:Notecardforfree: MOS:LAW#Citations and referencing also provides guidelines for citations in articles about legal topics:
- 1.
"[F]or articles on cases, case law, or subjects which use a large amount of case law, it is recommended that editors use the referencing style for the jurisdiction that heard that case or for which that legal subject applies."
In the United States, editors should use"Bluebook, ALWD, or an official state system (i.e., the California or New York systems)."
- 2. Editors should
"[c]ite to legal materials (constitutions, statutes, legislative history, administrative regulations, and cases) according to the generally accepted citation style for the relevant jurisdictions."
- 3.
"Where both primary and secondary sources are available, one should cite both."
