Chicago Women in STEM is a Wikipedia-edit-a-thon hosted by Paul V. Galvin Library at Illinois Institute of Technology. It will take place in the Paul V. Galvin Library on Illinois Tech's campus at 35 West 33rd Street on March 27th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in celebration of Women's History Month. The event is open to the public. Event Information
[edit]The event will be held in the northeast corner of the upper level of Galvin Library on March 27th beginning at 3:30 p.m. Students, faculty, staff may bring their own device or check out a laptop from the Circulation Desk. Guests must bring their own device and must first obtain guest WiFi access from the Help Desk, located in the library.
Participants will be able to choose from a curated list of articles to improve. Resources, in the form of printed articles, will be available as references at the event.
Live edits will be projected from participants onto a screen.
Food and drink is permitted in the library, and light refreshments will be provided.
About the Articles
[edit]Articles that have been curated for improvement during the event will be about female-identified individuals with notable achievements in STEM fields with some connection to the Chicago area. In some cases they were born in the Chicago area, in others they went to school or taught in the Chicago area.
About the Hosts
[edit]This event will be hosted by Paul V. Galvin Library and is being organized by librarians in celebration of Women's History Month.
