Public Domain Day 2021 + Wikipedia 20th Anniversary Celebration
Date and time: Sunday, January 17, 2021 @ 6:30 p.m.
Location: New England, USA + online
Event Summary
[edit]Join New England Wikimedians for a celebration of Public Domain Day and the 20th anniversary of Wikipedia! We invite Wiki editors, librarians, history buffs, and Wiki enthusiasts to join us for this online event celebrating all things Wikipedia and recognizing materials from 1925 becoming free of copyright and entering the public domain.
We'll highlight New England authors and artists, as well as books, photographs, and other creative works associated with the U.S. Northeast.
Intellectual property rights for works published in 1925, for example The Great Gatsby and Mrs Dalloway, will expire in 2021 and will therefore become part of the public domain.

Notes
[edit]We talked about some further display or discussion related to Public Domain Day. Tentative next meeting is Sun Feb 21 at 18:30 eastern time. If we did have a public forum we could have specialists tell us a bit about works that have just become part of the public domain this year, and/or discuss advocacy for more/better public domain in US states, or online tools to manage it.
Okay, not today I guess. I'll send some messages to the editors above for another time. -- econterms (talk) 23:36, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
