Basic information

BMX On WheeIs (talk · contribs · block log · arb · SPI confirmed suspected)
Also known as the "Fuerdai vandal", this user is a Wikipedia vandal who has created hundreds of sockpuppets since December 2017. They started out targeting articles related to Apple Inc. smartphone products and fuerdai, but have since branched out. As of 2023, several LGBTQ+ related articles have also been known to be targeted by this LTA.

Targeted areas, pages, themes

As of 2024, BMX On WheeIs is known for targeting a wide variety of topics including:

  • Fuerdai, China, Falun Gong, Hong Kong
  • Technology, especially Apple products
  • Wealth
  • People, especially celebrities and political figures from the UK, the US, China and Hong Kong, including Joshua Wong (see section below about BLP)
  • Cities, buildings and other places, especially in the United Kingdom
  • Transportation such as railways and bridges
  • Loki- and Kree-related articles
  • Medical devices, such as Feeding tube

More recent socks may target the talk pages of people who have been involved in countering this vandal. They have also targeted this page and the BMX On WheeIs SPI. Additionally, socks frequently target Wikimedia projects other than the English Wikipedia, usually projects in English, notably Meta-Wiki, Wikivoyage, and Wikimedia Commons.

Starting in 2023, LGBTQ+ related articles are also a frequent target for this vandal where they engage in homophobic vandalism.

Habitual behavior

Usernames usually, but not always, reference "fuerdai", "on wheels", the character Loki Laufeyson, or are derogatory towards East Asians. Vandalism typically involves the same phrases and may reference wealth, China, or technology. Special characters and insertion of other letters (for example, "fouerdai", "富二代", "Fuㅌrdㅂi", and "phuerdai") are also frequently used to circumvent edit filters.

This user's user talk page vandalism may involve abuse of warning templates, such as giving users warnings for "reverting fuerdai vandalism" or similar, or changing section titles. Sometimes, the vandal will vandalize both articles and user talk pages by adding disruptive images. These images are uploaded by socks solely to vandalize with and typically reference the same things as their text-based vandalism. Any vandalism-only images need to be nominated for deletion on Commons.

Socks also frequently put sexual comments in their edit summaries including “Frozen Wee”, "My testicles are going up and down up down up down up down," and claiming that various Marvel Cinematic Universe characters performed sexual acts on each other or with the user.

BMX On WheeIs often targets BLPs and at times introduces severe BLP violations. Request revision deletion as warranted.

Socks may also cause disruption on Commons, Meta, zhwiki, or any English-language Wiki project besides Wikipedia, and should be reported to Steward Requests on meta to be globally locked.

As of April 2020, usernames related to COVID-19 (see suspected sockpuppets for an example) have also been used by the vandal. Starting in 2023, this user started using usernames that are derogatory to LGBTQ+ people.

Other notes

The username "BMX on WheeIs" is spelled with a capital I; this was likely done to avoid triggering Willy on Wheels-related abuse filters. In all caps it looks like "BMX ON WHEEIS", and in lowercase it looks like "bmx on wheeis".

Any future suspected sockpuppets need to be reported to Steward Requests on meta.
