Re number 5 is not quite right. Please fix - I cannot do this, sorry. Srbernadette (talk) 03:00, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

@Srbernadette Fixed. There was a special character in the date parameter, and the date was incomplete. Sandcat555 (talk) 03:47, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Automated edit count?

Would anyone know if it's possible to automate the edit count figure on my user page? Sandcat555 (talk) 03:50, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

perhaps with a bot or something? Sandcat555 (talk) 03:51, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
I could have sworn this was possible, but the best I can find for you right now is Template:Editcount. -- asilvering (talk) 04:35, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Various stats for your account are available here: https://xtools.wmcloud.org/ec/wiki.riteme.site/Sandcat555 and are usually up to date (occasionally there can be a lag of a couple of minutes). Feline Hymnic (talk) 12:06, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Yes, but that won't automate the edit count on someone's userpage. -- asilvering (talk) 16:44, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@Asilvering Would a bot somehow be able to see the wmcloud page and then auto edit my userpage? Sandcat555 (talk) 21:58, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Bot requests/Frequently denied bots#Bots to update edit counts. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:03, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@PrimeHunter Dang. I was really hoping this was a thing. Sandcat555 (talk) 03:28, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
@Feline Hymnic I already have that linked on my userpage. I was wondering if the actual number can be automatically updated Sandcat555 (talk) 21:57, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@Sandcat555 If you activate the gadget navigation popups then one of the things you get when you hover over another user's name (or your own) is information including edit count. That's all I need to see you are currently at 765 edits. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:29, 26 November 2024 (UTC)

I gave you $110 a few years ago. Seeing that you're constantly begging for a $2.75 "donation", I should be exempt for the next 33+ years. 2600:1700:F100:6520:FD88:3207:2D2:B365 (talk) 07:36, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Wikipedia has no way to link donations to a specific account or IP address. You are not obliged to donate, and if you don't want to, you can always close the annoying ads. User:CanonNi (talkcontribs) 07:45, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
One of the problems with IP editing is that you do get to see regular messages asking for donations. If you are logged in as a user, you can avoid this.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:51, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
You both read my mind; FYI, see what I said above about concerns over donations. 2601AC47 (talk·contribs·my rights) Isn't a IP anon 13:20, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Help with NPS sources

Hello,

NPS nomination forms have a section for "representation in existing surveys," as seen here on the bottom of the first page. What does this mean? Does it have something to do with a broader area-wide geographic survey, or a more specific historical site survey? Thanks so much!

Signature

Hello, I'm trying to make my signature but it can't be fixed. Here's what my signature should look like: Garudam Talk!

But as you can see it's currently messed. Please someone tell me how it can be fixed? And what error I'm making in this syntax: <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman;"><span style="color:black">Garudam</span><span style="color: gray;">Talk!</span> (talk) 12:23, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

@Garudam: Select "Treat the above as wiki markup" below the signature field. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:53, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@PrimeHunter I did exactly but it shows some syntax error like "span" <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman;"><span style="color:black">Garudam</span><sup><span style="color: gray;">Talk!</sup></span> (talk) 12:54, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@Garudam: You are missing two </span> as the message should say. Adding them should work: <span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="color: black;">Garudam</span></span> <sup><span style="color: gray;">Talk!</span></sup>. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:03, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
That helps @PrimeHunter Thanks. Garudam Talk! 13:08, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

John Perrot Quaker - Add image

Hi, I have uploaded a copyright free Wikimedia Commons image of the above but am struggling to incorporate it in the article. Your help would be much appreciated, I used to be able to do this but I'm getting old!

Horatius At The Bridge (talk) 12:53, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

@Horatius At The Bridge: I have added it to Infobox person with |image=.[1] PrimeHunter (talk) 13:09, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Many thanks PrimeHunter

Margaret Greville

There are two pages about Margaret Greville. I am a Research Historian - as a Volunteer at Polesden Lacey. I have written a book also which is the Maggie Greville Story. I have researched for more than thirteen years the history of Maggie Greville, her father William McEwan and Polesden Lacey. I wish to change the existing article totally.It contains misinformation. It is not correct. I have a huge number of references to prove my research. How can I remove the existing article and provide a new article which tells the truth, and is far more interesting? 13truthknown (talk) 14:11, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

@13truthknown You do not start a new article, you improve the existing one, one bit at a time. A WP-article on any subject is meant to be a summary of reliable sources (WP:RS) on that subject, and if you wish to make edits that can "stick", you need to understand what sources are considered reliable around here, and guidance like WP:SELFCITE. You need to know how to add references correctly in the WP-environment, this is essential, WP:TUTORIAL has a start on that.
My suggestion is: start small. Make a few edits, see what happens, then make a few more. If other editors react, WP:COMMUNICATE. Do not throw out existing sources in favor of your book. If your book is WP:SELFPUB, don't use it as a source at all. Hope this helps some. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:55, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Btw, if you meant there are two WP-articles about Margaret Greville, which is the other one, please? That might need fixing. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:57, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@13truthknown Incidentally, Wikipedia doesn't claim to give readers the truth (see that link). Instead, by policy, we ensure that facts in our articles can be verified from the sources we quote. The article on Margaret Greville was first created in 2007 and has been improved incrementally by many editors since then, which is why you should follow Gråbergs Gråa Sång's advice. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:08, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@13truthknown, as has already been said, a self-written book, particularly if self-published or published by a vanity press is never going to be an acceptable source. If you have access to proper independent verifiable sources, by all means use them to improve the article, but no original research please Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:19, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Margaret Greville, 6th Baroness Willoughby de Broke is a different person Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:25, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Just a heads-up that an SPA removed a referenced section regarding Greville's pro-Nazi inclinations Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:17, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
That's... technically correct, I guess. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:40, 26 November 2024 (UTC)

Username

Help please every username I offer has been taken no matter how random Gnasher24 (talk) 16:06, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Gnasher24, you already have a Wikipedia account (your username is @Gnasher24). So unsure what you are asking here? qcne (talk) 16:13, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Also, WP has over 116 million registered user-accounts, that's quite a lot of taken user-names. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:15, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@Gnasher24 Gnasher25 is available (etc). Shantavira|feed me 17:39, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@Gnasher24 You can use Special:ListUsers to search over existing usernames and see what might be available. Read the instructions at the top of that page carefully. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:25, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
A username can also be rejected if it looks too similar to an existing name. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:29, 26 November 2024 (UTC)

Suggested edits paused

Hello, I noticed that my suggested edits have been paused until December 1, 2024. The notification mentioned some contributions were reverted, but I wasn't provided with specific details. Could someone please help clarify why this happened and how I can resolve it? Thank you. Lokkyboy ([User talk : Lokkyboy|talk]) 17:39, 25 November 2024 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lokkyboy (talkcontribs)

I can't tell what you are referring to. Please clarify: where did you make these suggested edits? ColinFine (talk) 19:48, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
I think they are referring to the Suggested edits widget on Special:Homepage qcne (talk) 20:15, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
@Lokkyboy: You have apparently encountered a feature specific to the Android app: mw:Wikimedia Apps/Team/Android/AppEditorTasks#Suggested Edits 3.0 - Improved Suggested Edits Homescreen and Feature Pausing (released 25 November 2019). I had not heard about it before and don't know what triggered it. The only edits at Special:Contributions/Lokkyboy with the "Reverted" tag are four edits in April and May 2022. I don't know whether the feature looks back so far when you have few edits since then. I suggest you just try again after December 1 if you want to use suggested edits. You are free to edit in other ways, e.g. finding tasks at Wikipedia:Community portal#Help out. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:54, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
