[edit]Change font style back for wikicode
[edit]Hi,
I have noticed that as of earlier today, the wikicode font appears to be more of a "typed" font instead of the regular font that displays in an article.
It has only changed on mobile; it still looks the same on the desktop version.
Is there a way to change it back?
Thanks, David O. Johnson (talk) 00:47, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Serif font (red serifs) |
- @David O. Johnson: They are both sans-serif for me but if you mean mobile is serif for you then try this in Special:MyPage/minerva.css:
body {font-family: sans-serif;}
- If it's still serif after clearing your cache on a mobile page then try this more drastic version:
body {font-family: sans-serif !important;}

- @PrimeHunter:I gave both a try, but neither worked. Thanks for the attempt. David O. Johnson (talk) 14:55, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- @David O. Johnson: Does the "typed" font in mobile look like serif? Are you viewing the mobile site in a normal browser? My code is for that and not for a Wikipedia app. PrimeHunter (talk) 19:51, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- @PrimeHunter
- I think it's sans serif (but I'm not certain).
- I am viewing Wikipedia on the mobile site, using Firefox on Android.
- Here's a screen capture of what it looks like to me:

- Yes, the inline diffs have changed to monospaced as of Thursday's patch. I'm not sure what css element controls display of those. Folly Mox (talk) 20:54, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Was it this? I don't really have any experience navigating phabricator. Folly Mox (talk) 20:58, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- @David O. Johnson: Your screenshot is a mobile diff [1]. If that's what you want to change (I'm not sure which change) then try:

Drafts
[edit]How many pages are in the "DRAFTS" namespace? Figbiscuits (talk) 03:52, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Check out Wikipedia:Namespace for an explanation about namespaces.
- You may be asking for the number of page of various types present in each namespace. That data can be found at: WP:Database reports/Page count by namespace
- Sometimes, though, you want to know the number of drafts awaiting review, which can be seen at WP:WikiProject Articles for creation/Submissions. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:58, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks! Figbiscuits (talk) 04:19, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Here Without You (3 Doors Down song)
[edit]I have found a source which gives multiple different genres that this song falls under. Do I need to cite the source for every genre, or do I only need to cite it once? Jacobnichols2222 (talk) 05:09, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Jacobnichols2222: Cite for all three. Use a "named reference", so you will only need to put the entire citation syntax in once. See WP:REFNAME. -Arch dude (talk) 05:38, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Rate Your Music
[edit]Why is the website Rate Your Music considered a "deprecated source"? I've only ever heard good things about the site from music reviewers and lovers alike? Jacobnichols2222 (talk) 07:02, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- WP:RYM says "Rate Your Music was deprecated in the 2019 RfC. The content on Rate Your Music is user-generated, and is considered generally unreliable."--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:13, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Note that "unreliable" does not mean it is a bad website. Wikipedia is not a reliable source by its own standards; yet presumably editors like it. TigraanClick here for my talk page ("private" contact) 09:53, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Contributions not showing up
[edit]Hi, I've been contributing for some time to Wikipedia, but contributions don't show up on my contributions page. The username I seem to have is Knju22. Is there a way I can link my contributions to my account. Thanks. - Kell N. Julliard Knju22 (talk) 16:16, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Your account has (other than this post) no contributions, deleted or otherwise. If you recall making contributions, you must have done so while logged out under an IP, or with a different account. I would suggest that you look at the edit history of some of the articles you recall editing to see if you recognize a prior account or your IP address. Unfortunately it is not possible to reassign contributions to another account; you could write a statement on your user page taking credit for such contributions. 331dot (talk) 16:20, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Wildcard username search
[edit]Is there any easy way to do a wildcard username search? I'm want to check for a name where I don't know the first few characters but have the remainder. AndyTheGrump (talk) 17:43, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Regex search for
User:<something>TheGrump
. - —Trappist the monk (talk) 18:00, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- I feared as much. Me and Regex don't get along too well, though for this case it should be simple enough. Many thanks. AndyTheGrump (talk) 18:13, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
The name of the company has changed. It no longer uses the capital "S." 76.177.235.246 (talk) 20:05, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- On its own website's front page, linked in the article's infobox, both versions are used. The full address at the foot of that page, for example, begins "BitSight Technologies, Inc.".
- Can you provide a published Reliable source stating that the capital has been dropped? {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 51.198.107.25 (talk) 23:08, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
Hopkins Review
[edit]I would like to update the outdated cover art for The Hopkins Review (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/The_Hopkins_Review)
The current legacy cover art is outdated by more than a decade, and the periodical has won awards for its redesign. I attempted to update the artwork today, but my edit was undone by another user indicating that it was "not constructive." I do not agree! RahneAlexander (talk) 20:10, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Did you ensure that your updated image was "Sufficient resolution for illustration, but considerably lower resolution than original", like the one you replaced? We have to be careful when using non-free images under the fair use rationale. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 51.198.107.25 (talk) 23:14, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- The new image is better, so I have restored it. Hopefullt it won't get removed a second time. — Diannaa (talk) 02:23, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Adding a doctoral student
[edit]Jianqing Fan had more doctoral students who became successful scientists. For instance, in the UNC-Chapel-Hill-years, Chunming Zhang. Source for advisorship: https://stor.unc.edu/graduate/alumni/?wpv-wpcf-alumni-year=2000&wpv_aux_current_post_id=6119&wpv_aux_parent_post_id=6119&wpv_view_count=124 Source for success: https://scholar.google.de/citations?user=CryiacIAAAAJ and https://pages.stat.wisc.edu/~cmzhang/. May this PhD alumna be added to the infobox in the article Jianqing Fan, section "Doctoral students", or does this necessarily need/require an article Chunming Zhang? A joint work of these two (and two more scientists) is cited in Chan–Karolyi–Longstaff–Sanders process. --Mann aus 23 (talk) 20:33, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Mann aus 23. to quote the instructions at Template:Infobox scientist.
The idea is to list only those students who are significant enough to warrant their own article.
StarryGrandma (talk) 21:29, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, this is a sufficient answer. --Mann aus 23 (talk) 06:47, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
Dear help desk
[edit]Thank you for welcoming me here on wikipedia Zanokuhle zulu (talk) 21:35, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- Did you have a question, @Zanokuhle zulu? Qcne (talk) 11:48, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
I would like to bring this page to your attention, if anyone would like to improve it. JackkBrown (talk) 21:47, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
- JackkBrown, given that you are an Italian speaker, you are probably better able to do so than 99.9% of en-Wiki's Help desk responders. If you're unwilling or feel unable – well, it's already templated as needing improvement, so it should already be on the radar of those with the requisite skills and motivation to do so. That said, maybe your post here will prompt someone, but I wouldn't bet money on it. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 51.198.107.25 (talk) 15:24, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
