كيف آخذ مراجع صفحة محمية How do I take protected page references

[edit]

I am translating the page Humpty Dumpty into Arabic, and I request modifications to take references.

Can you clarify what you mean by request modifications to take references? (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.)Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 07:05, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Tenryuu, I have translated a page that is protected from editing And I need to add the references names to the modified page how do I do that? —الحلقة الأخيرة 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 07:05, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@الحلقة الأخيرة: Click the "View source" tab at Humpty Dumpty to see the wikitext. Does that answer your question? PrimeHunter (talk) 09:44, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
الحلقة الأخيرة, if I'm understanding you correctly, there is a page that you wish to translate, but it is protected from editing? Are you trying to put the translation on here or Arabic Wikipedia? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 10:30, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@الحلقة الأخيرة: I'm not quite sure what exactly your problem is. As far as I get it, you're translating the Humpty Dumpty article from English language into Arabic. I am not sure though if you are just translating into Arabic language or you intend to put the translation into Arabic-language Wikipedia; and if it's the latter, which page protection is the issue – the en-wiki or the ar-wiki?
If the problem is with a page at Arabic Wikipedia, you need to turn to ar-wiki administrators to unprotect it for you to put the new contents to it (or to grant you higher privileges so you can edit protected page – but that seems very unlikely).
OTOH, if the problem is the en-wiki page protection, then you should see a 'view' link (or 'view a source') instead of 'edit', which allows you to read the whole page in a wiki source code. This makes searching for a specific part of the article a bit harder, and finding a specific reference details may be tedious, but it's certainly possible! :) CiaPan (talk) 12:24, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Tenryuu Thank you. I understood that I had to put the question on the Arabic Wikipedia, I didn't know there was a difference}, —الحلقة الأخيرة 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 08:26, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
PrimeHunter Thank you.}, —الحلقة الأخيرة 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 08:26, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
CiaPan Thank you. There is an easy way to copy references and I haven't learned another method which is when editing. Anyway thank you. I will put the question on Arabic Wikipedia}, —الحلقة الأخيرة 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 08:26, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Tenryuu and PrimeHunter: Pinging you both as I suppose the notifications above have not reached you. --CiaPan (talk) 23:33, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping; I think you answered what they wanted to know, though I'm still trying to piece together which Wikipedia they wanted to edit. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 23:35, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Tenryuu: If you watch their global contribution, you'll probably see. :) I suppose it was about the corresponding article at Arabic Wikipedia ar:همبتي_دمبتي, which displays some red error messages about unbalanced ref tags, but I'm not going to investigate that any further. Not now, at least, it's 1 a.m. here, time to sleep. Good night, everybody! :) CiaPan (talk) 23:56, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

censorship issue

[edit]

Please review the pollicization of cgtn website. There are some facts coming from there about gdp. We need your organization to make way for liberization to information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:4CA0:7600:4D6E:A676:1E48:10C4 (talk) 08:11, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not censored, we follow what other sources say, rather than choosing to "liberalise information". Joseph2302 (talk) 08:52, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"Wikipedia" has no formal mechanism to review a website. Wikipedia is crowdsourced by hundreds of thousands of anonymous editors, including you. If you feel that data from this source is biased, you are free to finds other reliable sources that contradict it and add references to those sources. You are not permitted to remove the existing data and citations. For example, if an article says "The value is X[cited to source A]", you cannot simply change it to "The value is Y[cited to source B]". You can however change it to "A states that the value is X, but B states that the value is Y{cited to A and cited to B]". If you believe the source is not a reliable source, then raise this issue at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. If a consensus then emerges that the source is unreliable, then articles that reference it can be changed. -Arch dude (talk) 16:58, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The most recent discussion of CGTN on the noticeboard is at: Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 312#RFC: China Global Television Network. Based on this discussion, you may treat the source as "unreliable" for some types of information. -Arch dude (talk) 17:12, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
On further investigation, our consensus is that CGTN is deprecated. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. see Wikipedia:Deprecated sources for what this means. -Arch dude (talk) 18:22, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, RItvik8840. It appears that you are talking about some movie, but you haven't told us which one, or what you want to say about it. If you have a suggestion for improving an article, please post on the talk page for that article. --ColinFine (talk) 12:03, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HOW TO GET STARTED

[edit]

I want to develop a site helpful. So i need a guider to get started. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vanga Natisha (talkcontribs) 10:01, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Vanga Natisha: I am afraid we cannot help you with setting up your own website. This help desk only answers questions about using or editing Wikipedia. You may try Wikipedia:Reference desk/Computing, though you will probbably need to ask more specific questions. Victor Schmidt (talk) 10:19, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edgar "Gemini" Porter from the Group Men at Large died on January 17, 2021 from Covid 19 related complications. I was able to edit his page but not add he had died. My source was DJ Tony Neil on facebook and it is not listed any where else. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.103.95.153 (talk) 11:53, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Facebook is not regarded by Wikipedia as a reliable source. Please try to find a better source, and post on the article's talk page. --ColinFine (talk) 12:05, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
THank you for wanting to help improve Wikipedia; but I have rolled back your edit. We do not include statements that people have died without a reliable source. --ColinFine (talk) 12:10, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I found the source [1]. His name is DJ Tony Neal but we need better sources to report deaths. See List of premature obituaries. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:17, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Changes I made were changed.

[edit]

Hello,

Jim McCalliog is my step dad and he wanted me to change some things in his wikipedia so I sat and changed everything he wanted and then I got a message saying things were changed back which is really annoying. Hope someone can help. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by StewartWoodhouse (talkcontribs) 15:19, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@StewartWoodhouse: we don't use plain external links in the article body. That being said, the notification by Serols realy could have been more helpfull. Victor Schmidt (talk) 15:44, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Victor Schmidt, this was link spam for me, therefore the user also received a warning. Regards --Serols (talk) 15:54, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IMO {{uw-vandalism1}} does not include linkspam (that's what {{uw-spam1}} is for) Victor Schmidt (talk) 16:03, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I am confuse on the zip code 08012 for Turnersville - Gloucester county

The same zip code is listed for:

ZIP 08012 CITY AND STATE Blackwood, NJ COUNTY Camden AREA 856

HOW IS POSSIBLE THAT THE SAME ZIP CODE BE USE ON TWO DIFFERENT COUNTIES AND CITIES? PLEASE CHECK ON THIS. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.115.142.203 (talk) 17:32, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is the help desk for editing and using Wikipedia, but the article on Turnersville, New Jersey seems to acknowledge this. You may want to ask this on the article's talk page. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 17:40, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not write in ALL-CAPS. This is often considered WP:SHOUTING which may make people less willing to do what you ask. --CiaPan (talk) 18:02, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Each US post office has a zip code. The same post office (08012) serves both communities. see [2]. -Arch dude (talk) 18:34, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
