Nobody wants to train me

[edit]

I would like be trained to the WP:CVUA but maybe nobody wants to help me. What can I do? Dr Salvus 06:38, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dr Salvus You don't need to be formally trained to counter vandalism; a good place to start learning about it is WP:VANDALISM. 331dot (talk) 06:49, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Accused of vandalising.

[edit]

Hi, I'm trying to add a reference and I'm getting accused of vandalising on the 'Disappearance of Frederick Valentich' page, when that's not what Im doing. Can you please help?14.201.32.33 (talk) 10:27, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It may not be "vandalism" exactly, but you are editing disruptively and edit warring. Please discuss this on the article talk page to collaborate and achieve a consensus. 331dot (talk) 11:11, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Terence Anthony

Terry Anthony (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Good morning,

My name is Terrence Anthony and I am writing you about the page associated with my name. Although the information is correct that is not a picture of me. I am a African American male, the picture you have associated with my name is a white male teammate of mine named David Palmer. Please make a correction with a new picture and thank you for even recognizing my accomplishments. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:9001:1E02:D075:B4DF:595E:747D:26A8 (talk) 13:13, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note A google search for Terrence Anthony has an image of a black man. The image in our article was uploaded from here where the photographer states that it is Anthony. Could possibly be an error on the part of the photographer. Eagleash (talk) 13:26, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree - I've just performed a Google search, and found two photographs labelled Terry Anthony, both showing the same black man. There is also a YouTube clip (which I won't link to since the copyright to the video isn't clear, but search 'Seminole Moment: Peter Tom Willis' 62-Yard TD Pass to Terry Anthony vs. Florida (1989)'), again showing a black man receiving the ball. On the balance of probability this seems to be a mistake in the name attached to the photograph - I'm going to remove it from the article. GirthSummit (blether) 13:33, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • IP/Terrence Anthony, if you want to contribute an image for WP to use, that may be good.
However.
WP takes copyright very seriously, and any picture of you already on the web somewhere is almost certainly under some sort of copyright.
So, if you want to "donate" a picture, this is the recommendation:
Choose one you have taken yourself but not published anywhere already. Then upload it with the process that starts HERE. If someone else took the pic, they should upload it. That is a link to Commons, a sister-site to WP where we keep free images. Perhaps name it Terry Anthony 2021 or something like that. It can then be added to the article. How do i create a company page for my company?

[edit]

I have been finding it difficult to create a company page for my company, Please i need your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lobon1 (talkcontribs) 14:44, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lobon1 The very short answer is- don't. Wikipedia does not have "company pages". It has articles, typically written by independent editors. Those articles summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a company, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable company. Wikipedia has no interest in what a company wants to say about itself, you may do that on social media or your website.
Please review conflict of interest and paid editing for information on required formal disclosures you must make. 331dot (talk) 15:28, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OP now blocked. (not by me). 331dot (talk) 15:31, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is my edit here followed wikipedia rules? Rizosome (talk) 15:42, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Courtesy non-mobile link [1]. Adding an edit summary is good practice. Beyond that, can you please be more specific about what you're asking? RudolfRed (talk) 17:29, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@RudolfRed: I am just asking if my edit look proper or not. Anyway @Njd-de: fixed my edit here. Rizosome (talk) 18:27, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I want to add the screenshot of the group chat to Josh fight, but I'm not well-versed in copyright law. Are publicly-available viral screenshots safe to upload? Bowler the Carmine (they/them | talk | contribs) 19:14, 25 April 2021 (UTC) If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{u|Bowler the Carmine}} to your message, and signing it.[reply]

@Bowler the Carmine: That screenshot was already deleted on Commons earlier today as a copyright violation due to Facebook Messenger being non-free software. DanCherek (talk) 22:04, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thank you. {{u|Bowler the Carmine}} (they/them | talk | contribs) 22:25, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted sources / apologies!

[edit]

Hello Wikipedia Team:

I attempted to add a blog I wrote about the Volkswagen Corrado page:

https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Volkswagen_Corrado#References

Unfortunately when I tried to add a link to the list of works, I may have deleted all of the nine (9) works previously listed - the URL I wanted to add would have been the tenth (10):

https://amazingheights.blog/happy-30th-to-volkswagens-first-true-sports-car-the-corrado/

I wanted to include the write-up at the bottom of the REVIEWS section:

In 2020, author/blogger Seth Ulinski published a piece to commemorate the Corrado's 30th anniversary of being launched in the United States. In the article, he estimates 1,500-2,000 Corrados are still on the road in the United States.

Is it possible for the team to help?

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Thanks, Seth Skyhighshortguy (talk) 20:12, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like your edit was already reverted, so everything's ok now. {{u|Bowler the Carmine}} (they/them | talk | contribs) 20:18, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem User:Skyhighshortguy, glad to help. And one way to do this yourself in future is
  1. Click on the "view history" tab at the top of the article (you will see a list of edits, in chronological order; yours will be at the top, under your name)
  2. Click on the date field of the edit just below your version
  3. Click on the "[restore this version]" field that appears near the top left
  4. A field comes up asking why, just type in "mistake" or whatever and click OK Herostratus (talk) 22:52, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
