[edit]Essaying an essay
[edit]WP:Essays is a bit hard to decipher. Let me see if I understand it correctly. I can create an essay just like a regular article in mainspace, and slapping on one of the essay templates (notability) keeps it from being visible to the general public? Clarityfiend (talk) 03:05, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- No, essays should either be in user space or Wikipedia space. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 03:30, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- But it must relate in some way to Wikipedia, or it is likely to get deleted. --ColinFine (talk) 12:09, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- So WP:Game of non-existent thrones? Clarityfiend (talk) 04:07, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
- Clarityfiend I'm not sure exactly what you're asking? Elli (talk | contribs) 01:26, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
- Is that where I create my essay? Clarityfiend (talk) 02:09, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Clarityfiend: If the essay is related to Wikipedia and you don't want others to give you more control over it as the author then you can create it there in project space. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:42, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

- You seem to be asking a question about computer problems. The place to ask such a question is not here but Wikipedia:Reference desk/Computing. Although I can't guarantee that you'll be understood. -- Hoary (talk) 04:09, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
Publishing
[edit]The information I am trying to upload to inform/warn people of a company that is a scam. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JanMayRC21 (talk • contribs) 14:12, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- @JanMayRC21: Wikipedia only reports on what has been writtten about a topic in independent, reliable sources. If the company you refer to is the subject of a Wikpedia article you can add information to that article *but* only if it is supported by sources. Wikipedia cannot be used as a form of social media where individuals can post their opinion about commercial concerns. The content of User:JanMayRC21/Sample page is not appropriate for this site and should be cleared / deleted. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 14:34, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- @JanMayRC21: if you want to write an article, please read Help:Your first article first. I have tagged your sample page for speedy deletion as a Wikipedia:Attack page. TSventon (talk) 14:42, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
How to align a table right
[edit]Hello,
I have added a table to the article Many Flags and need to align said table to the right of the page. It looks like a sore thumb as is. Please tell me how to do so or make the edit for me. Thank you. --The Vital One (talk) 14:49, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Error about Classical Conditioning regarding Dog Training
[edit]After looking up "Dog Training" I found something that is not right. It is where you can click number 46, under Classical Conditioning.
A dog may become afraid of rain through an association with thunder and lightning, or it may respond to the owner putting on a particular pair of shoes by fetching its leash.
The first example of classical conditioning is correct, however the next is not. Classical conditioning is related to only behaviors that are involuntary. Fetching a leash would not be considered involuntary because the dog made the choice to do that. That is an example of respondent conditioning. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:18F:600:2320:2C3A:A7FE:9072:FE42 (talk) 17:08, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- If you have a suggestion for improving an article, that article's talk page is the best place to post. Note that information to be added must be supported by reliable published sources. Information from your own experience (or from my experience, or from any other editor's experience) is not acceptable unless it has been reliably published. --ColinFine (talk) 17:42, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
[edit]Hi there,
If you click on "Arpitan" in the infobox of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, it links to Franco-Provençal via a redirection. Could someone establish a direct link between Ariptan and Franco-Provençal (keeping Arpitan as the name that appears)? Thanks.
- IP editor, the infobox uses Template:Native name, which links to Module:Language/data/iana languages. I am not sure if what you want is possible or desirable, Trappist the monk may be able to advise or you could ask on the template talk page. TSventon (talk) 23:58, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- If I understand what OP wants, then a redirect is the way to accomplish it. And, since Arpitan redirects to Franco-Provençal already, there is nothing to do.

Submitting books
[edit]I have tried multiple times to submit a new page about a crime novel but it keeps being rejected due to a lack of sources, even though according to Wikipedia's guidelines this book counts as a primary source for itself. Why are the editors not following Wikipedia's guidelines when it comes to book submissions?
- Does the book satisfy the requirements in WP:NBOOK? RudolfRed (talk) 23:28, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- The draft in question is Draft:Hard Frost, which is entirely unreferenced. Yes, a book itself can be used for a plot summary, but the book itself does not establish the notability of the book. If that were the case, every book would be notable, which is absurd. In most cases, books become notable because they are reviewed in several reliable sources which are then used as references in the Wikipedia article. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:32, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
- We want an article for every notable book (WP:NBOOK). More than 2.2 million new titles are published every year: that's more than 6000 per day. Very few of them are notable. Yours is not one of them. -Arch dude (talk) 04:08, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
