[edit]How to "discuss"?
[edit]It's embarrassed to ask as this is 11 years old account, though I don't have experience with this.
On https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/The_Great_British_Bake_Off_(series_5)
One of contestant passed away, first in this show.Me and other editors are trying to mention it "post-show carriers" following the example of other food reality shows, though one editor has other idea.reverts all of edits. How to create discussion? -Paperworkorange (talk) 02:51, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Paperworkorange: Go to the talk page at Talk:The_Great_British_Bake_Off_(series_5) and click the "New Section" link at the top of the page to start a new section and then start the discussion. You can use {{Ping}} to mention other editors and they will be notified you mentioned them. RudolfRed (talk) 03:29, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Paperworkorange: Do remember to WP:AGF. Both you and the other editor are trying to improve the encyclopedia. -Arch dude (talk) 03:57, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- @RudolfRed:Thank you for let me know.I will going to try now.-Paperworkorange (talk) 07:15, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Arch dude:Yes.Sorry about my impolite expression. This is not my first language, that's why I asked. But I have to remind me again, because I admit I was frustrated by so many reverts.- Paperworkorange (talk) 07:14, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- @RudolfRed:May I ask,as many editors are involved,is it ok to ping all editors at once? -Paperworkorange (talk) 07:17, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Paperworkorange, yes. You can use {{ping group}} for that (please read the documentation carefully if you do, as it's a little unintuitive). —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 07:20, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you!! This template looks convenient.I will read document carefully.-Paperworkorange (talk) 07:23, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Things are now more complicated. Before I create discussion,There was revert without reliable sources.Rollbacker was involved using RW15.I'm reading about it right now.Is it ok still create discussion? If it's ok,should I ping to rollbacker to let him/her know this is not vandalism, but two kinds of people who have different ideas for one show's article? -Paperworkorange (talk) 07:54, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Paperworkorange, I would say yes, let them know. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 15:54, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

help editing a protected infobox
[edit]I put in a request here over a week ago for a change needed to accommodate COVID–19's characteristics — and in order to correct a severe misrepresentation on one of the key metrics. No one with permission to change has responded. Can someone here help? I can respond to questions for clarification. Thx, Humanengr (talk) 04:58, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
Table column width
[edit]In List of film remakes (A–M), I've got tables with three columns. The third one's width is the problem. How can I arrange it so that it occupies however much space is left over from the other two columns, not knowing how wide the reader's browser is? Clarityfiend (talk) 07:54, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- If by that you mean that you want the tables to fill the available space left-margin-to-right-margin then you can change:
{| class="wikitable"
- to:
{| class="wikitable" style="width:100%"
- Of course that presents problems with
{{Film series}}
so going margin-to-margin may not be desirable. - If you mean something else, then perhaps you can clarify.
- —Trappist the monk (talk) 16:05, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- I just want that third column to have a consistent width. style="width:85%" seems to solve the Film series issue. Thanks. Clarityfiend (talk) 05:02, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Helen palmer
[edit]There are at least two helen palmers, one re enneagram, the other helen palmers geissel, who are conflated in your articles — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:6000:8C40:6600:D161:D195:D572:545E (talk) 15:39, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- We have separate articles Helen Palmer (author), Helen Palmer (publisher), and Helen Palmer (archer). Where are you seeing an issue with conflating information? If it's on Google, you will need to contact them directly. Joseph2302 (talk) 15:45, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
Red underlining
[edit]When I write, almost every word comes up with a red underlinging, as if it was misspelled. In the previous sentence, only the words 'I', 'a', 'red', 'as' and 'it' are not underlined. What's wrong? Creuzbourg (talk) 16:47, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Creuzbourg: May be your browser has wrong language settings, so a spell-checker uses wrong dictionary? --CiaPan (talk) 16:55, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Concur. This sounds like a browser configured to use a different-language dictionary. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Takes a strong man to deny... 17:05, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- @CiaPan: That's very probable. I thought it was something with the Wikipedia settings. Thanks! Creuzbourg (talk) 17:09, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
How to correct wrong facts about myself
[edit]Someone has added incorrect information to my page. How do I correct it? Each time I try you tell me that I am vandalizing my page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TerryNeese (talk • contribs) 18:57, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, TerryNeese. I see from your User talk page that your account has been blocked until you verify that you are Terry Neese, for your own protection - the message on your talk page tells you how to do that. When you have done that, please read AUTOPROB for what to do when there are problems with an article about you. --ColinFine (talk) 19:19, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Courtesy link: Terry Neese - article has problematic history of COI editing. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 23:47, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- @TerryNeese: Re 'my page': please be aware no page at Wikipedia is yours – the article about you is ...just about you, but neither you nor anybody 'owns' it.
You may want to see WP:OWN for a more detailed explanation of ownership issues with Wikipedia contents. --CiaPan (talk) 00:19, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- @TerryNeese: As a subject of your bio you have the strongest case of a Conflict of interest. As such, you should not edit the article directly, but rather make an edit request at its talk page. Please see WP:Conflict of interest and WP:Edit requests for more info. --CiaPan (talk) 00:27, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Can someone point me in the right direction (Declaring a blog)
[edit]So about a week ago, I created a blog and I plan on (And have written) some blogs about my opinion related with things on Wikipedia. On my User page, I created a section and attempted to declare the blog the best I could. My goal is to write my opinions in the blog and leave the opinions there. I am an experienced editor on Wikipedia, so I know how to keep opinions out of my writing (2 ITN recognitions/3 barnstars). If anyone knows a specific process/template I should use to declare the blog, please let me know. I know their are templates for declaring paid editors and stuff, but I couldn't find one relating to a blog. If there isn't such a template, let me know if I should update/change anything about what I declared so far (Relating to the blog). I want to make sure I do it right, so I don't get into trouble down the road. Thanks, Elijahandskip (talk) 19:14, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- I think what you have now is fine. Unless I'm missing something, there's no duty to disclose your off-wiki opinions or activities, as long as those do not create a conflict of interest on the Wiki (such as paid editing, biased editing, etc). If you're just sharing your opinions about Wikipedia, I don't see why it would be an issue. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 19:19, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Ok. Thanks a lot! Elijahandskip (talk) 19:22, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
Would like to reclaim my old username
[edit]Hello,
I created the username Spacecat77 back in October of 2007, but the email I used to create it no longer exists. Of course I don't remember my password. Is there a way I can get access to it?
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:646:C601:B060:357F:73B0:42A5:ABE8 (talk) 19:20, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, no, not really. Please see Help:Logging_in#What_if_I_forget_my_password? - this explains all the options. But unless you fit one of the exceptions, you will just have to start over with a new account. You would be encouraged to declare your old account on your new userpage, for transparency. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 19:25, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Update: it appears you never made any edits with Spacecat77 (at least not visible edits). You could therefore technically apply to 'usurp' the username, see Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. However, for simplicity, I would just recommend starting anew. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 19:28, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- For the record the account has no deleted or suppressed edits either and is therefore able to be usurped. Beeblebrox (talk) 02:57, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
remove Prescott and Russell Recreational Trail
[edit]Hello, we would like to advise you to remove the mention of the Prescott and Russell Recreational Trail from your website. This trail will no longer be the responsibility of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.
Thank you for your attention to my request.
https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Prescott_and_Russell_Recreational_Trail — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.208.69.114 (talk) 22:01, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- ???? Why would we remove the article? Even if it were to be destroyed, its existence is still a historical fact. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:14, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- what Mike said, we have thousands of articles on things that no longer exist. That's not in any way a reason to delete them. This isn't a travel guide, it's an encyclopedia. Beeblebrox (talk) 02:55, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- If you have a reference that describes the change of status of the trail, then please provide the reference. We can change the article to reflect the new status. We will not delete the article: "once notable, always notable" (WP:NOTTEMPORARY). -Arch dude (talk) 03:10, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Music scores
[edit]Why are they "currently disabled"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oosbam1812 (talk • contribs) 22:35, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- It's not entirely clear what it is you are referring to. What is disabled and where is it? Beeblebrox (talk) 02:51, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Oosbam1812: Apparently a security issue that is being worked on. RudolfRed (talk) 03:54, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
