[edit]Wikipedia Entry
[edit]Good Evening, I hope all is well. I am doing a research on the different Puerto Rican Dances. I am not sure whether they are already on wiki so I was wondering if it will be okay to do my own entry? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fs1050 (talk • contribs) 02:08, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Take a look at Latin dance and the links from it, and Music of Puerto Rico and the links from there also. I know nothing of the subject, so I don't know if a separate article would be better than expanding sections of those articles. If you decide to proceed, be aware that "research" is a trigger word: we don't allow "original research" (WP:OR). We do allow and encourage "research" in the sense of finding information in published sources, and in fact we insist on it (see WP:RS and WP:V), so I hope you mean that. You should have no problem establishing that you subject is notable, which is required for a separate article (see WP:NOTABLE). Please read your first article, and see if it makes sense. You may want to get some practice by first improving the existing articles I listed, since they need it and it will give you some quick accomplishments. Welcome and good luck!-Arch dude (talk) 04:46, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- (ec)We already have articles on bomba, plena, aguinaldo, danza, salsa and reggaeton. You can search for any other types by typing their name into the search box at the top of any wikipedia page and hitting "Enter". You should think about adding to those articles rather than creating new ones. Rojomoke (talk) 04:19, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
Inserting Sfn template hangs page when visual editing
[edit]When I try to insert an sfn template in visual editing mode, it doesn't work and seems to hang up the whole page so that I have to reload it to do anything else.
Here's what happens: In visual editing mode, I choose Insert > Template. In the window that pops up, I type "sfn" and the three fields for that template appear. I fill in the field and click Insert. The top of the insert-template window gets "wavy" to show progress, but nothing else happens. Clicking Cancel in the window doesn't dismiss it and the whole page just hangs. I even got this result in the Tutorial sandbox, with nothing else on the page.
I'm using a Chrome browser and a Windows 10 machine.
The sfn template does seem to work in my content if I type it in in source editing mode.
Also, I can edit existing sfn's in visual mode. I just can't insert new ones.

- Probably the best place for an answer to this is: Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback.

candidate listing order?
[edit]Is there a wikipedia rule on the order of candidates as they might appear on page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dael4 (talk • contribs) 04:57, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello Dael4! Assuming you mean candidates as in Ohio gubernatorial election, 2018, I don't really know. You could try Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Elections and Referendums. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:43, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
Biography article created but not showing the rest in search query
[edit]Hello,
I submitted an article(Biography) on 13th May 2018, about Chamok Hasan which is showing in my sandbox and draft. But it's not showing the search query. I didn't get any notification about reviewing my article or not. Please check and inform me when it will be published for everyone and if not then what can I do.
Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hasiburrahmanbepul (talk • contribs) 09:57, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

To delete a Wikipedia page that is created in my name but does not belong to me
[edit]I am Zafar Hayat Khan from Pakistan. I created Wikipedia user page in my name with full information but I forgot the username and password. Even, I don't remember the email id through which I created the page. It seems that the page, now, does not belong to me as i am not allowed to edit it. Now anybody can help me to delete that page or tell me how to operate? The page is as under: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Zafar_hayat_khan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zafarmainiwal (talk • contribs) 11:08, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Zafarmainiwal: You can tag the page with WP:G7, which will get the page quickly deleted. You can't edit it because you aren't WP:Autoconfirmed.💸Money💸emoji💸💴 11:34, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Zafarmainiwal: I have also added a few hopefully useful links about Wikipedia editing to your user talkpage. Please note that Wikipedia articles - especially biographies of living people - must be based on multiple published reliable sources (Wikipedia:Your first article contains a good step by step guide about article creation). Of course other improvements to existing articles are also appreciated. GermanJoe (talk) 14:35, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

What are you asking here?💸Money💸emoji💸💴 14:58, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, IP user. I guess that you are wanting to add to some information in a Wikipedia article, but I'm not sure which one: perhaps Gate of Horn. The best place to suggest this is on that article's talk page; but please be aware that personal knowledge alone is not acceptable for a Wikipedia article, because there will be no way for a reader to check if it is accurate. Only if a published source corroborates your recollection can it go into an article. --ColinFine (talk) 18:56, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
How do you become an Administrator?
[edit]I've read through the directions and I'm still confused. Can someone please assist me? EDG 543 (talk) 17:37, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, EDG 543. You become an administrator by persuading enough editors that you have the experience necessary, and a reason to be given the powers of one. At 486 edits, I suggest you forget about the matter for a couple of years. If you're thinking that being an admin gives you some sort of status or respect, I suggest you forget about it forever. Admins are like janitors: they have the keys to everywhere, and they are therefore expected to clean up messes after everybody. You get status and respect by improving the encyclopaedia, nothing else. (I've been an editor for 13 years, and have made 14 000 edits, but I've never applied to be an admin). --ColinFine (talk) 19:08, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
Charlie Chan
[edit]It is int4resting to note that the first MOVIE Superman, Kirk Alyn, appeared in "The Trap," a Charlie Chan movie of 1946; and the first TV Superman, George Reeves, appeared in Charlie Chan's "Dead Men Tell," a 1941 movie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.31.65.88 (talk) 17:46, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- If you think something could usefully be added to one of our five million articles, please suggest it on the talk page of that article. Note that information should only be added to Wikipedia if a reliable published source says it. --ColinFine (talk) 19:10, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
How to publish from the sandbox
[edit]I created a new page at User:81.132.79.134/sandbox. When I did so the information I read said that it was possible to have the page created by requesting it, however I can find no way of requesting the creation from the sandbox. Peak Voyager (talk) 18:36, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- I have added a {{userspace draft}} template to User:81.132.79.134/sandbox, but before you submit it for review please read the advice at WP:Your first article, and read the Manual of Style to see (for example) how to include section headings. --David Biddulph (talk) 19:21, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

Help needed at my userpage.
[edit]Hello, When I was putting in new entries for my user menu on my user page. 4 square brackets popped up at the top of the page below the ads, and they won't go away. I would like to get them removed. Your help will be appreciated. Thanks! In Memoriam A.H.H.I am good at fighting windmills.. 21:20, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- @In Memoriam A.H.H.: Done - You had some duplicated HTML closing tags and ]] markup after the new items, leading to the brackets appearing in the rendered page. Richard0612 21:37, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
reorganizing articles
[edit]Hi, There is an article "Cold Therapy" about a band. Well there is a medical type of cold therapy and also a very new psychological modality called cold therapy. So, I believe a disambiguation page needs to be created, and the current article about the band moved to an article called "Cold Therapy (band)". Then, how should two articles be titled for medical types of "Cold Therapy"? There are a few things I am unsure of like moving or renaming the original article. RichG (talk) 21:42, 14 May 2018 (UTC) Ok the one type is aka cryotherapy, which an article already exists. I believe I should create an article for the band, and move the band article there. RichG (talk) 22:37, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- Remember that if you do so you must move the article, not cut or copy and paste. --David Biddulph (talk) 22:56, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not sure Cold therapy (disambiguation), which you've created, is warranted at this time. There are only two articles and a redlinked alleged primary topic, so hatnotes would have sufficed. Also, Ice bath seems to be a better choice than Cryotherapy; the latter article even states that the former is "generally known as cold therapy". Clarityfiend (talk) 22:58, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
Yes I will use the move function. Also there are three articles, not two. One is needed to direct "Cold Therapy" to the cryotherapy article. It's redlinked because I'm currently constructing it - I'm waiting for Cold Therapy (band) to delete so I can actually move the article. RichG (talk) 23:21, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
