auto / any specs

[edit]

us car guys dont like engine specs put in text. ANY specs for autos need to be in charts. check out old Chrysler factory service manuals. numbers / specs should be in charts. the way you do this makes it hard to find exceptions to the text. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:E870:C6E0:B9C3:755:1F8E:AEAB (talk) 02:02, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Welcome to Wikipedia, the Encyclopedia anybody can edit: this includes you. All editors are volunteers. Some editors gather themselves into projects, including Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles. Please feel free to join that project and see how they do things, Make your suggestion there, perhaps on the project's talk page, and by all means chip in and help. Note that since those guys, like us on the help desk, are volunteers, you might get better results by using a slightly more positive tone. -Arch dude (talk) 02:27, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And please be more specific with links to examples. We have thousands of articles about cars. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:40, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorabji

[edit]

File:Cornelia Sorabji bust in Lincoln's Inn.jpg|thumb|Cornelia Sorabji's bust in Lincoln's Inn, taken at the 2012 Gresham Special Lecture]] Upon returning to India in 1894, Sorabji got involved in social and advisory work on behalf of the purdahnashins, women who, were forbidden to communicate with the outside male world. In many cases, these women owned considerable property, yet had no access to the necessary legal expertise to defend it. Sorabji was given special permission to enter pleas on the behalf of the purdahnashins before British agents of Kathiawar and Indore principalities, but she was unable to defend them in court since, as a woman, she did not hold professional standing in the Indian legal system. Hoping to remedy this situation, Sorabji presented herself for the LLB examination of Bombay University in 1897 and pleader's examination of Allahabad High Court in 1899. Yet, despite her successes, Sorabji would not be recognised as a barrister until the law which barred women from practising was changed in 1923.[1]

Sorabji began petitioning the India Office as early as 1902 to provide for a female legal advisor to represent women and minors in provincial courts. In 1904, she was appointed Lady Assistant to the Court of Wards of Bengal and by 1907, due to the need for such representation, Sorabji was working in the provinces of Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, and Assam. In the next 20 years of service, it is estimated that Sorabji helped over 600 women and orphans fight legal battles, sometimes at no charge. She would later write about many of these cases in her work Between the Twilights and her two autobiographies. In 1924, the legal profession was opened to women in India, and Sorabji began practising in Kolkata. However, due to male bias and discrimination, she was confined to preparing opinions on cases, rather than pleading them before the court.

Sorabji retired from the high court in 1929, and settled in London, visiting India during the winters. She died at her London home, Northumberland House on Green Lanes in Manor House, London, on 6 July 1954.[2][failed verification]

Redirects and categories

[edit]

Should redirect pages generally be in article categories? Eg. Anna Pulitzer. Nikkimaria (talk) 04:48, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nikkimaria, as per our redirect categorization guidelines, "Redirects are not usually sorted to article categories; however, there are exceptions." Details on such exceptions can be found at Wikipedia:Categorizing redirects#Article categories. Hope this helps. Thanks, Lourdes 05:25, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My wikipedia page is not searchable or visible in the google search or wikipedia search itself.

[edit]

I have my wikipedia page named Prabhakar More which is not visible throughout the google search or wikipedia search itself. What should I do now to make visible the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prabhakar More (talkcontribs) 08:13, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please post, here, a full URL to it. Thanks. • SbmeirowTalk08:16, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Prabhakar More: I would assume the page is Draft:Prabhakar More. It will not be visible to search engines as long as it is a draft (and even in mainspace where Wikipedia articles live, it will not be visible to search engines until it has been reviewed by a new page patroller).
In its current state, the draft is unlikely to go to the mainspace. Judging by your username, you are highly encouraged to read our advice at Wikipedia:Autobiography, as well as our policies about "notability". TigraanClick here to contact me 10:08, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Prabhakar More. I'm sorry you are having an unrewarding experience, but I'm afraid that, like many people, you have a misunderstanding of what Wikipedia is, and what it is for. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, which contains neutral articles about notable subjects, based almost exclusively on what has been published about the subject by independent people. It may not be used for promotion of any kind, and autobiography is strongly discouraged. The draft Draft:Prabhakar More has not been submitted for review, and would certainly not be accepted in its current form, as it has not one single reference. (And drafts are intentionally not indexed by search engines, as they have not yet been accepted as Wikipedia articles).
If you wish to get your draft to an acceptable level (discouraged, as it is about yourself, but not forbidden), I suggest you read your first article, and then find several places where people who have no connection with you have published in-depth pieces about you. If you cannot find such places, give up. If you can, then throw away everything you have written, forget everything you know about yourself (difficult!) and write a new article based solely on what those people unconnected to you have written. --ColinFine (talk) 10:09, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

About Certain Music Stars

[edit]

I Have Been a Fan Of Country Music All My Life & My Father Also Did Country In His Early Yrs & We Followed The People From The 40's To Today ,,, I Read An Article In Wikipedia About Charlie Pride , Ever Since I Can Remember I've Known His Birth date To Be March 18,1938 BUT In Wiki It Said Something Different . Our 1934 year of birth come from The Country Music Hall of Fame. If you can find a reference to a later date, then please let us know. It is not unusual for celebrities to publish later dates of birth as they get older. Dbfirs 19:06, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Page on Betterez and the concept of reservations and ticketing management

[edit]

Hi, I am receiving some pushback about a page I am trying to create on Betterez and the concept of Reservations and Ticketing Management. A page on this subject would be useful as many major companies are using this ticketing technology to improve their ticketing and reservations systems. Major investors such as JetBlue Technology Ventures and Amadeus Ventures have invested in this company and having a dedicated Wikipedia page would help others who are doing research on the subject. How do I go about doing this? I received a few comments from your team about how it's not suitable but I'm having trouble understanding why technology that is impacting travel around the world isn't suitable. Betterez has had several press articles written about it and can link to outside sources. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.99.145.70 (talk) 19:37, 13 November 2017‎ (UTC)[reply]

Article will not show up in Google Search

[edit]

Hi,

An article I created will not show up in google search results. Even adding the article to Google Index site, does not fix the problem. Here is the article. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Shane_Berkery

Any suggestions would be appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Berko45 (talkcontribs) 20:05, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Berko45: New articles are noindexed for 90 days or until they are patrolled. See Wikipedia:Controlling search engine indexing#Indexing of articles ("mainspace"). PrimeHunter (talk) 21:03, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
