August 6

[edit]

I have failed with my "link" in the "Francis Lupton" section om this page. It should go straight to the page Leeds Grammar School - but the school was called "Leeds Grammar" at that time and the text should say that. Please fix the link - it is in red. 139.216.79.167 (talk) 01:38, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Done - you need a pipe character (|) between article name and piped term (see also Wikipedia:Piped link). GermanJoe (talk) 01:45, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

possible mistakes

[edit]

I have carried out a number of minor edits when I have been quite certain there was an error, but I would like to SUGGEST a change to an article, but not actually make the change. How do I do that in such a way that it reaches the person who wrote it? I see that the article I have in mind has been edited very recently, so it's a current issue. Regards, Markbedford (talk) 11:22, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You can use the article's talk page to post suggested changes, supported by references to published reliable sources. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:26, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Further to that, Markbedford: If the article's been edited recently, the people who edited it are probably watching the talk page; but to be sure, you can ping them when you post to the talk page. You'll need to look in the article history to see who to ping. --ColinFine (talk) 14:15, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That's the answer I needed. Thank you. I didn't say what desk, since it applies to all desks. בנצי (talk) 23:34, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
