- Srbernadette, I got it. Thanks for the notice! Did you know that you can fix this yourself? Just hit "edit this page" at the top of the screen, and you'll be able to fix errors like this easily: change the text that appears in the big white box, and then hit the "Save changes" button at the bottom. Even if you can't type the correct character (like here, maybe), it's often easy to find it somewhere else and copy/paste it; in this case, the source URL has his name at the bottom left, so you can copy the ü character and paste it into the article. - If a publisher or author etc. has a Wiki page, it is common for the link to be included in a reference. The page is, however, proposed for deletion so it may change in this instance. Eagleash (talk)

Template for help regarding foreign language citations
[edit]I'm looking at the Citroën CX page, and in the lede it says "The CX was also the final successful model of the "big Citroën" era, which began in 1934.[1]" - and is backed up by the attached ref. I'm not sure of this claim though - the Citroën XM was the direct successor, and whilst not a runaway success it did sell over 300,000 units. But I don't understand the reference language - Danish maybe? So how do I request or tag the reference for clarity as it's in another language? Chaheel Riens (talk) 09:45, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

- Hello Chaheel Riens, the best place to ask source queries is either the talk page of the respective article (you can challenge the source and request clarification, per our verifiability policy), and/or the reliable sources noticeboard. Having said that, the source you refer to says the following: "Den Store Citroën blev født på en ikke helt klarlagt dato i 1938 som Citroën TA 15H, og antog mange former og gestalter indtil den døde den 20. december 2012 i skikkelse af Citroën C6, 74 år gamble," which, loosely translated, would mean that Citroën TA 15H was the first model and Citroën C6 was the last model (with 74 years between them till 20 December 2012, when it closed production). The source does mention that the CX was very successful, and that the XM, its successor, was a disaster ("XM var en katastrofe"). Cite error
[edit]Hello. I've found numerous pages plagued by this error. Example: MOBB. At the bottom it says, "Cite error: A ref tag is missing the closing ref (see the help page).

- No, it was clearly the Template. If you go to the diff I provided, you can see the error message above the template, if you click "← Older edit" you can see that it was not present before that edit, and if you click "Newer edit →" (twice) you can see that removing the text removed the error message. Before making the removal, I looked at other pages using the template, (e.g. Dumb & Dumber (single)) and they all had the same warning - which disappeared when I altered the template. - Arjayay (talk) 14:12, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Person claiming to have written a song I wtote

- IP 62.30.173.46 - when you say "I have altered the post several times", the most recent changes were by a user called User:Fergpgsly You say there is documented proof - could you please be more specific. The book you refer to is published by Milo Books, which seems to specialize in books on "hooligans". I do not know if they would be considered a "reliable source", with a reputation for fact checking.

- No, I did not say "the book is not reliable" - I said "I do not know if they would be considered a "reliable source", with a reputation for fact checking." Some publishers simply publish whatever is submitted to them, without any editorial control - so the fact that something has been published "proves" nothing, whilst "common knowledge" is not acceptable either.
FWIW, I believe you, and have already removed the counter-claim, but we need a reliable source before adding anything back - Arjayay (talk) 11:00, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

Jennica, while what Iridescent is mentioning may be kept in mind, there's no general policy or guideline which prohibits editors from editing disambiguation pages like that. You should keep our editorial guidelines in mind and give a quick read to WP:Disambiguation if you haven't already. Otherwise, go ahead and feel free to edit. We assume good faith. Also, the page WP:Dusty articles is manually maintained (the last edit was from an IP) and just escaped an Mfd. So double check the entries. If you want a list without disambiguation pages or redirects (as an editor, it's your discretion of course), the better place to see would be Wikipedia:Database reports/Forgotten articles than WP:Dusty articles. Picture Removal due to 'Permission Error'

I'm a new Wikipedia user and I was wondering if somebody could assist me as I am having trouble adding a photograph on a Wikipedia page. The photograph I was hoping to add to a particular page was of the Italian Ambassador's residence which I sourced from Wikimedia Commons. However, when I went to view it after saving, a link appeared which informed me there was a 'permission error' for some reason.

I don't understand your 'permission error' message, but the formatting of the file was incorrect - this diff shows the text as you left it, and how I altered it for the picture to show - User:Yunshui/Images for beginners is a good, basic, tutorial on images which should answer most of your questions if you get stuck again - Arjayay (talk) 17:06, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Hi Arjayay, thank you for helping with that and for the link! I don't understand what it means either, I'm not an admin but I am a registered user so I thought it would let me add a photo. Predecessors and successors in infoboxes
[edit]As a general rule, should a politician's predecessors and successors be included in their infobox? Past precedent would appear to indicate as much (e.g Barack Obama; Winston Churchill), but I'm having a hard time convincing people over at Talk:Michael Portillo. - Specto73, hello. As much as I can see, the debate is about not duplicating information that already is mentioned at the bottom of the said article (or somewhere below, as I can understand). In my opinion, including predecessors and successors to politicians is an imperative in the mobile era, because an infobox comes right at the top of the article in the mobile view, while few editors have smartphones (or the patience to scroll down) that can parse the template boxes at the bottom of any article containing the same information. As an Rfc has already been started on the talk page of the said article, I am confident that more editors would comment and consensus would become clearer. Thanks.
