Is there any magic word that can check how many pages are in the "What links here" list of a given page?

For comparison, there is a magic word that indicates how many pages are in a specific category:

{{PAGESINCATEGORY:Help desk archives}} → 69

Is there any way to make the software show the number of pages that link to a specific page, similar to showing the number of pages that appear in a category?

If there isn't any magic word that can do it, is it possible to make the software view the number of pages that "link here" using a script, module or something similar?

Thanks in advance, Guycn2 · 23:15, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is no magic word or other method to display the number to general readers of a page. A user script might display it to yourself but I don't know one that does it. Help:What links here#Number of links shows an external tool that can give you the number. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:54, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I don't ask specifically about Wikipedia. I need it for my own wiki. If I insert an appropriate script to "MediaWiki:Common.js" on my Wiki, will everybody be able to see the number of pages that link to a page? Guycn2 · 00:17, 19 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This is a help page for Wikipedia. I guess that could be done but it might give a large server load. I don't know whether the number can be retrieved without requesting the full list of page names from the API. For your own wiki you may be able to install MediaWiki extensions. A quick search found mw:Extension:BackLinksFunctions but it sounds very uncertain whether it works today. The place for MediaWiki questions unrelated to Wikipedia is mw:Project:Support desk. New account

[edit]

Hi Editor, It's more than two weeks since I created my account here (Wikipedia) and uploaded my photo, up until now, I can't see my picture and my account is still incomplete. How do I complete my account and upload my photo again? Has my deleted article anything to do with my account?

@RobertNwad: Your account has not uploaded any files. The account has made 6 edits (including 3 edits to the deleted User:RobertNwad/sandbox) and will be autoconfirmed when it makes 4 more. The deletion of your sandbox has no effect on your account. If your photo has a free license then it can be uploaded to Commons right away at commons:Special:UploadWizard.
