Help us on how to changed and upload our new organisation logo. THANK YOU.

unirazakCSCD2016 (talk) 03:06, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@CSCD2016: You didn't say what is 'your organization'. Anyway, logos are not free in general, so one needs to take special care when adding such contents to Wikipedia.

Paul McCartney page

[edit]

There is no way i can figure out how to add info...Some info is missing about Paul McCartney's Mother, named Mary, and how she died.. this should be added:Mary had been suffering from breast cancer, and died of an embolism shortly after an operation to stop the spread of the disease. (the person that wrote the info left out that she had breast cancer)!

http://www.beatlesbible.com/1956/10/31/paul-mccartneys-mother-mary-dies/

its a well known thing...

@Exmouthpixie: Paul McCartney is semiprotected so new accounts cannot edit it. Click the "View source" tab to get information and see how to submit an edit request. Write the request in the big box and not the small edit summary field like you did in [1]. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:39, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures won't display after tapping them in Wikipedia Android app

[edit]

If I tap a picture in an article while using the Wikipedia Android app no picture is displayed, just information about the picture. I've tried using different versions of the app but the result is the same. Also, if I tap a photo in the small article preview it works correctly, but not from within the article itself.

Example of picture in article: http://imgur.com/6S0pic8

After tapping picture: http://imgur.com/pUpY5D6

No one else has this problem I presume? Or am I asking in the wrong place? Apologies if that's the case. This has been an issue for some time now and no amount of Google searching has yielded me any results. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:302:D1E7:93B0:8D62:2FF0:369F:6D6C (talk) 06:17, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is this question about a particular project, or a particular article? Which one? Maproom (talk) 07:56, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's about Project I want the process and timeline that how to achieve article quality grading NA to *FA and importance scale NA to Top This is the reference link https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Brands/Assessment#Importance_scale — Preceding unsigned comment added by Digitalavdhesh (talkcontribs) 08:52, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Then you might do better by asking at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Brands. I doubt that time is relevant. What matters is the importance, and quality, of the article. Maproom (talk) 09:13, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Create a page of a self-made language in Wikipedia

[edit]

How to create a new Wikipedia of my self-made language? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Litqforviki (talkcontribs) 09:20, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Litqforviki. The answer is almost certainly that you don't, I'm afraid. Wikipedia only has articles about topics which have had substantial coverage in independent reliable sources - please read What Wikipedia is not.
(It is possible that you are asking a different question: are you trying to set up a whole Wiki - many connected easily editable pages - about your language, and not actually connected with Wikipedia itself? if so, then you could download the Mediawiki software and run a private wiki if you have a web server; but the easiest approach is to use a free service such as Wikia, and create a new wiki on that.) --ColinFine (talk) 09:35, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Little Royal

[edit]

My name is Alton Douglas Mckinzie better known as Doug. In 1968 I was and still is playing saxophone for a singer name Little Royal who is the first professional artist to hire Teddy Pendergrass as a drummer to travel and play professionally with his band The Swingmasters. I introduced Teddy Pendergrass to Little Royal in Atlantic City NJ. At that time Teddy was working as a porter at Edgehill's Lounge located at Illinois and Baltic ave. I met Teddy while we were performing at Edgehill's and he told me that he like the way that our drummer Marvin Jolly played. Teddy watched Marvin each set that we played before Marvin decided to leave the band to pursue a job playing Jazz instead of R&B. Upon Marvin's sudden departure Little Royal needed a drummer right away so, I told him that I had met a guy that worked in the club that said that he played drums and he was just in Atlantic City to work for the summer and had got a job as a porter at Edgehell's Lounge, Little Royal asked me to bring him to the dressing room so I went down stairs and got Teddy and told him that Little Royal wanted to talk with him about possibly playing in our band. Well the two talked and the next morning Teddy ,Little Royal and my self drove to Philly to Teddy's mother house where we all went in and Teddy introduced Little Royal and me to his mother.Teddy and I left Little Royal at his mothers house to talk over the possibility of Teddy traveling with our band while, we went from place to place trying to collect his drum set. One of the houses that Teddy and I stopped at, Teddy came out with a floor Tom and that was the only drum that he came up with. We then went back to his mothers house and picked Little Royal up and headed back to Atlantic City NJ. When we got there Little Royal gave me some money and told me to take Teddy to Irvin's Music Store on Atlantic Ave to buy the rest of the trap set that Teddy needed to perform. The next day we rehearsed Teddy with the rest of the band and finished the week out in Atlantic City NJ then to Newark NJ . There we played the Continental Ball Room for one night and I left the band and came back to Washington,D.C to finish my final year in high school while Teddy traveled and played with the band. Marvin Jolly (Drummer) is retired and living in Buffalo,N.Y. I live in Washington,D.C. and so do Little Royal and he is still performing at the age of 82 and will be turning 83 on November 22. I have phone numbers on both Marvin Jolly the drummer that Teddy replaced and Little Royal. I talk with them almost daily. You should do an Unsung article on Little Royal and The Swingmasters they have been around for over 50 years with Little Royal's biggist hit recording Jealous and the band's instrumental Razor Blade. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alton D. Mckinzie (talkcontribs) 09:59, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia has a short article on Little Royal and The Swingmasters. You can add to it, but it will be best if you can supply published sources (not just your personal recollection) for statements that you add. Maproom (talk) 13:17, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the OP is trying to get the attention of the TV series called Unsung, which is about R&B music artists, and has confused our article with the webpage of that show. If the OP comes back, I would direct him to this page, which is where you can submit ideas to the creators of that show. Matt Deres (talk) 17:50, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How Can I create a page for my company Pemex Global Consultancy ?

[edit]
Question moved here from Wikipedia talk:Centralized discussion. @Pemexglobal. --Pipetricker (talk) 11:44, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

How can I create my company page for Pemex Global Consultancy ? plese help and guide ?

Thanks in advance Pemex Global Consultancy! (10:11, 15 June 2016 (UTC)) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pemexglobal (talkcontribs)

Basically, don't. First, your user name is that of the company, and that violates the user name policy. Second, you have a conflict of interest. Wikipedia does not have "company pages" and is not a directory but an encyclopedia. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:38, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rami disambiguation page

[edit]

On the Rami disambiguation page regarding the name both Rami Malek links direct to Rami Malek the actor when one is the actor and one is the physician. Just thought I'd let someone know because I don't even know if the physician page exists but if it does I think Rami would appreciate the recognition. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CF9A:E280:F14C:17C4:9C3C:1C7F (talk) 11:11, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing this out. I can find no evidence that Wikipedia has ever had an article on a physician named Rami Malek, and have deleted that link. Maproom (talk) 11:29, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

I would like to post information about a card game I played as a child. I have a copy of the instructions and rules but have never found a source outside the paper I have online anywhere - this is why I would like to contribute the information to the web- the problem is that articles require sources... Do I have any options here to get the information up? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChrisDove (talkcontribs) 13:45, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You might ask for help at the Entertainment Reference Desk to see if someone else can find a source. The published rules are one source, but notability involves more than one sources. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:36, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What is the name of the game? Is it listed at pagat.com or here? I ask partly because, even if Wikipedia isn't interested, the owner of pagat.com may be. Maproom (talk) 16:43, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Still a red link, but page exists

[edit]

I added a link to a specific technique to an article about a person who helped develop the technique. The Wikipedia article uses what I consider a less useful capitalization (non), so the link did not work. When I went to the red link page, I made it a "redirect page," but that page is still a red link in the article I edited. When I look at other articles that have redirect pages linked, these are blue links, not red links. How do I fix this? I think I did this before, successfully, but I can't figure it out for this article, Michael W. Davidson. --Volcanic throat (talk) 16:43, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Have you tried to WP:Bypass your cache ? - Arjayay (talk) 16:46, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Assuming you are referring to Photoactivated Localization Microscopy that was a green link to me, as you were linking to a redirect page, but User:Maproom has down-cased it, to Photoactivated localization microscopy so it is now blue - Arjayay (talk) 16:54, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a phrase, it's a technique that has an acronym, so if you make it a downcased phrase it makes it unrecognizable as the specific technique PALM, but capitalized, researchers who are not primarily microscopists realize the discussion is about a technique. That is not helpful to the reader, and means my bothering to add information to the article was a waste of time. --Volcanic throat (talk) 16:59, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The link was red because Michael W. Davidson had not been rendered since the target of the link was created. A purge of the article would have changed the color right away but now it has changed anyway because the article has been edited and rendered again. Per WP:TITLEFORMAT Wikipedia uses sentence case in article titles. A Google search shows photoactivated localization microscopy is often written lowercase. The blue link is a strong hint that it's a known term and in Michael W. Davidson you explicitly said it was a technique so I don't think there is a problem. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:23, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I downcased the phrase as it is not a proper name and I knew of no reason not to. However that was not what fixed the problem. What mattered was replacing "photo-activated" by "photoactivated". I see that the name of the article is Photoactivated localization microscopy, but that it refers to its subject as "Photo-activated localization microscopy". Editing a company page

[edit]

SDI Solutions

Hello,

Edits made June 7th to the "SDI Solutions" page were redacted, despite presenting the current state of SDI. What needs to be done to have these edits permanently put in place? The link is to the "SDI Solutions" page. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by SDIisThere (talkcontribs) 16:52, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, SDIisThere. The answer is, cite all additions to reliably published sources, (preferably sources independent of the company, but for uncontroversial factual information, non-independent sources are acceptable). As somebody with a conflict of interest, you are strongly discouraged from editing that article at all, and should confine yourself to making suggestions for changes on the article's talk page. --ColinFine (talk) 17:09, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This may be partly repetitious. First, Wikipedia is not a directory and does not have company pages. It has encyclopedic articles about notable companies, who do not own any articles about them. Second, related, you ask about putting edits permanently in place. No edits are permanent, and the idea of putting edits permanently in place because of ownership is a common misconception. Third, your edits weren’t attributed to reliable sources and so were reverted. Fourth, you have a conflict of interest and shouldn’t edit the article itself. Place your edit request on the talk page, Talk:SDI Solutions. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:09, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Admin Request

[edit]
Resolved

Will an administrator please take a look at this user ID? It seems that she was told about four years ago that User:SDIisThere was a non-permitted user name. She then created User:ClaudiaG. It seems that User talk:SDIisThere is redirecting to her talk page, but that she is editing from the corporate account, which should have been blocked. (She of course has a right to edit, although her right to edit on behalf of her employer is limited.) Robert McClenon (talk) 17:19, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

SDIisThere has now been soft-blocked by Cryptic. Joseph2302 (talk) 19:24, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IP, I've seen the previous versions – they were either written in such a way to be promotional or were just a list of departments. I am sure we can include the departments, but they'd need to be written in prose. We will not be removing the incident either, as we do not censor. Thank you for your understanding -- samtar talk or stalk 19:55, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, to expand on the answer above, Wikipedia articles are compiled by volunteer editors who are independent of the article subjects and who gather information from freely available and reliable sources such as respected newspapers or other news reporting services. They therefore do not contain information which cannot be found elsewhere. If however you have concerns about the content of an article of which you are the subject, click on the 'contact page' link on the left of any Wiki page and then 'Article subjects'. If you follow the steps you will be able to make contact with a specialist team who have the correct tools and resources to help you. Eagleash (talk) 01:19, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
