I have had difficulties with refs in this article. Is it all OK? Thanks Srbernadette (talk) 02:44, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a new (more reliable) source Reference number 5 - BUT - It is not looking good. I tried to add in a quote and got it wrong. Please helpSrbernadette (talk) 03:11, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it. Somebody else will probably expalin why it was bad. --Edgars2007 (talk/contribs) 05:20, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As in so many occasions in the past, the answer to your question is available in the error messages which you received. In your version of the article your reference 5 had two messages.
The Wikipedia software developers have tried hard to give you clear links to help pages which explain your problems in very clear terms. If you read the links you will see what you've done wrong. --David Biddulph (talk) 08:04, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Article 'multiple issues'

[edit]

Hi - I have read the FAQs but I'm still a little stuck as to what to do. My company created their own page earlier this year, which has now been flagged due to our obvious close connection. While I have read the suggestions and see that instead of creating it, we should have applied for a page by providing sources etc, now that it has already been created.. what should I do? Should the page be deleted and we start again by applying for an independent editor to write the page, or should I try to edit the page in an unbiased (but disclosed) manner? Thanks in advance for your help — Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.39.175.66 (talk) 10:59, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Probably best if you give us a wikilink to the article, then we can see what state it is in and suggest the way ahead. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:16, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David - Thank you for your help. Olivetree Group is the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.39.175.66 (talk) 11:59, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In view of your conflict of interest, I would suggest that you provide your suggested amendments at Talk:Olivetree Group (which will be a new page as nobody has used it yet), together with supporting references to published reliable sources independent of the company. I have taken the liberty of replacing the url in your answer by a wikilink, as these are more readable. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:23, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2016 NCAA Division I FBS season

[edit]

Well Either This week Or Next Week I Hope you make this new article called NCAA Division I FBS season there will be some info soon 68.102.61.195 (talk) 16:15, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your suggestion. However until there is appropriate verifiable information from reliable sources to create content of value, we won't have a page on this. As an encyclopedia we report on what "is" versus what is "going to be" -- see Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. Tiggerjay (talk) 16:47, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information Let me know when. 68.102.61.195 (talk) 19:38, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's very unlikely anyone will post to your IP address when an article is created, and you may have changed IP address by then anyway. There has only been edits from your current IP address for a week. Users with an account have a watchlist to monitor changes to pages of interest to them. This can include pages which don't exist yet but will appear on the watchlist if they are created. Logged in users can also create articles directly while IP's can only submit them for review at Wikipedia:Articles for creation. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:59, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Amy Swensen

[edit]

Hi, Tiggerjay very kindly left a message on my talk page (User talk:Redfiona99, it's at the bottom, sorry I don't know how to link to sections) saying that I needed to do one more thing in my merge of Amy Tran into Amy Swensen. I'm not sure what that one thing is and WP:Merge didn't help and they suggested I come here for help if I couldn't figure it out. Any ideas what else I need to do? Red Fiona (talk) 18:11, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The way to make the link, and to use a wikilink rather than a cumbersome url, is [[User talk:Redfiona99#Amy Tran Move]], which renders as User talk:Redfiona99#Amy Tran Move. --David Biddulph (talk) 18:21, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) To link to a section, you would use the hash symbol like this: User talk:Redfiona99#Amy Tran Move. And you can pipe it too, like this: Some Text. Dismas|(talk) 18:23, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Can either of you see anything wrong with the Amy Swensen page and the merge I've done. WP:Merge is a littler unclear. Red Fiona (talk) 18:58, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot to mention I took care of one problem. Other than that I suppose it's fine.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 16:37, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can bullets be floated around images?

[edit]

I've been working on the way I display my DYKs on my user page, showing two sets of five at once, with the first set accompanied by a left-aligned image. Unfortunately this image obscures the bullets denoting the listed items, although I can tell that the bullets are definitely still there by highlighting the hook. Is there any way to add some extra space around the image that would allow the bullets to show up? Abyssal (talk) 18:34, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Abyssal: this is what {{Flowlist}} is for. —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 07:22, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over 5 million articles and thought we were affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is for asking questions related to using or contributing to Wikipedia itself. Thus, we have no special knowledge about the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck.
