Adding image to my article

WP:UPLOAD, other than a picture, you shouldn't edit an article about yourself, see WP:COI CTF83! 00:46, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • If you want to upload an image from your computer for use in an article, you must determine the proper license of the image (or whether it is in the public domain). If you know the image is public domain or copyrighted but under a suitable free-license, upload it to the Wikimedia Commons instead of here, so that all projects have access to the image (sign up).   • If you want to add an image that has already been uploaded to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons, add [[File:File name.jpg|thumb|Caption text]] to the area of the article where you want the image to appear – replacing File name.jpg with the actual file name of the image, and Caption text with a short description of the image. Improving article

Hi. The box at the top of the Zena Rommett article that I created suggests that I improve the article by dividing it into sections and linking to and from other Wikipedia articles. I have divided the article into sections and linked it to and from other Wikipedia articles. The box with the suggestions remains. Do I need to re-submit the article? How to use image from wiki.riteme.site in a page on fr.wikipedia.org?

There is an image in wiki.riteme.site I would like to use for a page in fr.wikipedia.org, but I don't know how to specify the image when editing. Using Image:example.jpg only finds images on the fr site. Any idea how to do this? Tripleblade (talk) 08:25, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:Futuremark_Logo.jpeg should be replaced with https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Futuremark_logo.png. The reason is that the fr. file is an older version of the logo that is no longer in use. The en. version is correct, as seen on http://www.futuremark.com/. (I know I could upload the new logo to the French site, but that didn't seem efficient as the same image would exist twice in Wikipedia. Company logos are not permitted on Commons because they are copyrighted. To use it on French Wikipedia you would have to download from .en and re-upload it to .fr. You also need to find out what the policy on .fr is concerning logos. On .en they are considered fair use if used on the company's page and accompanied by a fair use rationale on the file page for every usage individually. However, the policy on .fr may be substantially different. You need to ask there rather than here. SpinningSpark 10:56, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's a copyrighted fair-use logo. Commons does not allow that. fr:Fichier:Futuremark Logo.jpeg already has a red box warning about that. You must upload the new version to the French Wikipedia. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:00, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mondragon Corporation

Hi, In the article on Distribitivism, section Influence, subsection Mondragon Corporation, there are "Citation Needed" and "Original Research?" questions. I want to remove them and add a reference, but the reference I want to add is to a DVD (in Basque, Spanish and English) produced by the Lanki research group which is part of what used to be called the Mondragon Corporation but is now called Mondragon - Humanity at Work. This DVD is about the background of Arizmendiarrieta's ideas and concludes that they did indeed come from Catholic social teaching.

So my question is: Is this source acceptable given that (a) it is a DVD and (b) the DVD was produced by a research group that is part of the Mondragon group that is the subject of this subsection?

The article is called Distributism. I don't know whether a DVD can be accepted as a published source. But I think that a DVD produced by a subsidiary of a company cannot be accepted as an independent source for information about that company. Maproom (talk) 09:57, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Besides the question of independence raised by Maproom, there is the question of reliability. One has to ask what kind of editorial oversight occured in something produced internally by an organisation. Non-independent sources can be used for basic facts like number of employees, they would certainly be a reliable source for that, but they are not a reliable source for any conclusions drawn and should not be used without confirmation from independent sources. On the question of whether a DVD is acceptable at all for verification, the answer is the same as for a book, only if it is accessible by other editors such as being archived in a library. If it was only ever distributed to a few select contacts of Mondragon then the answer is probably no. SpinningSpark 11:12, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

is adding a contribution to Wikipedia so complicated or is there an easy way

I looked up a word but could find no reference to it in Wikipedia and as it is in common use in my field of work thought it might be worth adding. I gave up its just to confusing .

The word was "spidge" referring to those abandoned bits and pieces of leftover metals found after someone else has completed a project. Generally bits that would be scrap if it wasn't for the fact that you know , someday you are going to need that exact bit. Can be odd nuts and bolts or bits of off cut metals, jointing etc . Wikipedia is not a dictionary. However, Wiktionary is; you may be able to add the word there. The URL is https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Main_Page
Apparently, Wiktionary wants references to show that a word really exists. If there are no publications that you can cite which contain the word, you may have trouble getting the editors at Wiktionary to go along with the addition. Jc3s5h (talk) 12:54, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A Google search shows that Urban Dictionary and The Online Slang Dictionary have entries for "spidge", but neither include the definition given by Clyf54. It seems to be a non-notable usage, unless offline sources can be found. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 13:48, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible to get a wiki page about nancy barbato, Frank Sinatra's first wife. There is no information to be found of whether she is still alive or not. No information about her at all, it's pretty unclear.

There's some information about her at Personal relationships of Frank Sinatra, and she also has an entry at IMDb. Neither of these says whether she is still alive: if she is (and if IMDb is correct) she would be 97 years old. AndrewWTaylor (talk) 14:31, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you have specific problems about the article that you would like addressed you can raise them here or ideally at the article talk page: Talk:Rob Frampton. Inaccuracy with holistic medicine

I have noticed that you guys have an agenda. Your coverage of anything holistic is pathetic. If you claim to be an encylopedia of the People... Act like it. Medicine has never fixed amything. Holistic is the only way. You should be ashamed. I will never use your website again... If you are never using this site again you will probably never read this, but you are free to edit articles you are not happy with, Help:Getting started is a good place to start if you have never done so before. How to create a biography article

You should be able to create a new article at Abel Laureano, but rather than dive right in there, I would suggest that you create a draft article first using the process described at the articles for creation part of Wikipedia. Mulgrave School Article Deleted by an Editor - INCORRECTLY

I am the Communications Manager for Mulgrave School, an independent school in West Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. I recently edited our article to remove some information that had been added as a joke and to fix the spelling of a past head's name that had been incorrectly edited. An editor named 123chess456 undid my edits twice and then deleted the article about Mulgrave School. I would like to have the page reinstated please. Is someone there able to help?

The article was actually deleted by @RHaworth: as evidenced here. It appears the article was deleted due to concerns that it was unambiguously promotional; such articles are prohibited by policy. I'm unable to view the text myself. As discussed at Wikipedia:Afd#How an AfD discussion is closed, your first, best option is to discuss your concerns directly with the closing editor at their talk page. Best of luck! I looked at the deleted text and it is quite promotional. Also, all the references were the school's own website so there would also be notability questions. If you do find out how to change the article title (it's actually quite easy), it is likely that someone will change it back again, in accordance with Wikipedia policy as stated here: "Avoid definite and indefinite articles". editing the title of a page

The draft of an article I am working on for the Frick.Photoarchive account should have the title "Ann Hall" instead of "Anne Hall" (when I started my research, Anne seemed the better bet, but now I am convinced otherwise). Can an administrator help me out here, or are there some instructions I just can't seem to find. Thanks! You can change the title of a page by moving it to a new location. Any user can move a page as long as their account is autoconfirmed (Has 10 edits and existed for four days). Your account passes that criteria, so it should be possible for you to move the page to the new desired title. You can find a quick guide on how to do so over here. I would have done it for you, but i figured you might want to give it a go yourself first. If you run into a problem moving the page just drop me a note on my talk page.
